If you experience physical abuse, then you will also likely experience mental abuse as well (like not being able to trust the person who is physically abusing you).

Physical injuries usually heal more easily than the damage done by mental/emotional abuse, but that doesn't necessarily make one form of abuse better or worse than the other. Lifelong abuse usually calls for some type of professional mental health treatment.

The physical abuse always has some level of mental abuse as well but the physical scars heal a lot faster than the mental scars. If you have been abused you whole life you need to take steps to remove yourself from the abusive situation and seek some professional help to overcome the lifetime of pain because once you have been mentally abused it's very hard to stop believing the abuse and believe in yourself that you are better than what the abusers say you are.

I would say both are equal. I've been a victim of both. In some ways the physical was easier to deal with, but over time, it has an effect on the mind too. The mental abuse is usually the hardest part to overcome. If you have been a victim of either, get help. If you still are, get out immediately regardless of what you've been told or what your mind may try to have you believe, and get help!

Sometimes mental abuse leaves deeper wounds that do not heal fast. If you were mentally and physically abused, you should try to break away from it. We do not have control over time and situation. Take the help of the divine, because only god has power to reverse the situation. And when you are powerful, don't afflict abuse on others.

I would say that mental abuse is worse, if only because it leaves no proof that it's been happening. There is little support for someone who is mentally abused; you can't go to a shelter as a rule, and often times, you simply aren't BELIEVED. At least physical abuse is something for which you have concrete evidence, and for which there is a support system in place.

Abuse is Abuse. If you are being abused get out now! If you were abused all your life you should seek counseling to help you learn the skills it takes to live a normal life.

Well, let's see. The broken wrist or the broken spirit? Both were awful, but I have to go with the mental abuse because my wrist healed very nicely, whereas I'm still working on that spirit.

Physical abuse hurts for awhile and then it heals. In one way or the other, mental abuse hurts forever. Twenty years later, the words "stupid, fat, and ugly" will come back to haunt you.

Abuse is abuse. It all makes you feel like a worthless object and fearful of someone close to you.
