reading the Bible makes us disbelieve in the God of Christianity/Islam/Judaism more than we had previously? What can they tell us then?

I would ask which book of the bible you are reading and ask them what aspect causes their disbelief and then try to address it as best I can.

Generally, we get told that we read it wrong, or that we didn't read it with open hearts. Oddly enough, I read it twice, when I was a Christian and after I became an atheist. The conclusions were the same (indeed, reading it as a Christian actually led me to do more thinking and research, resulting in my atheism). Of course, some may say that I wasn't a "true" Christian, but I believed in God and Jesus as the savior, so that pretty much qualifies by most definitions.

What I find funniest about the whole "you read it wrong" thing is that one of the main theological emphases of Protestantism is letting the scripture stand alone, and not relying on some earthly authority that mandates one specific interpretation (this was a slam on the Catholic Church). Generally, it's protestants who are the most insistent on this idea that you find God by reading the bible.

Number 1 if you are not a believer in the God of the Bible (Christian Bible), you will not really understand it anyway, but I have some great news for you, get real close and listen to what I am going to tell you OK.
Number 2. God loves you very much because He sent His Son to die for your sins oh yea my sins too, you see we are all sinners and so we are in the same shape SINNERS 8-( Romans 6:23 but the GREAT NEWS is this, are you ready? OK in Romans 10:17 the bible says that FAITH comes by hearing and hearing by the word of God, isn’t that great you see it takes faith to save us and God gives us the faith through His word the bible so if you will read the bible and that is a big IF most people don’t take the time, but if you do I believe God will show you the truth and the truth will set you free and when God sets you free you are free indeed and guess what I will see you in heaven, pretty cool if you ask me. Hope to see ya there!

They cannot tell us anything because they have become so ignorant that this is considered the only way! They even re-write their bible so as to brain wash suckers into giving them more money so losers at the top of the so called church can go out and buy their boats, fancy homes, fancy cars, and so on, while other people suffer at their low life mud sucking scum bag discretion!
What happens to dirt bags like this?
"I will throw you on the land and hurl you on the open field. I will let all the birds on the air settle on you and all the beasts of the earth gorge themselves on you. I will spread your flesh on the mountains and fill the valleys with your remains. I will drench the land with your flowing blood all the way to the mountains, and the ravines will be filled with your flesh. When I snuff you out, I will cover the heavens and darken their stars; I will cover the sun with a cloud, and the moon will not give its light. All the shining lights in the heavens I will darken over you; I will bring darkness over your land..."

Then you can point out specific things that you have questions about.

The Jews don't believe that Jesus Christ was the son of God, the Messiah, but you can see the truth about him on every page of the bible, in the old testament and the new. And the Muslims don't believe that Jesus Christ died on the cross or that he was the son of God, or that he paid the penalty for sin. Therefore, the bible won't help you understand God according to Islam and Judaism.

The Bible wasn't meant for the sinner per-say but rather a "road map" to eternal life for those who believe in God. Very few sinners ever understand the Bible (and maybe a few Christians too) so it becomes confusing to them.

For the Christian established in God there are many wonderful uplifting and directional passages that the sinner often ignores because they lack the spiritual bond needed to appreciate Gods word.

I didn't find God through the Bible. I listened to that still, small voice in my head and in my heart. Everyone has this, we only need to learn how to listen. It doesn't shout; it whispers and gives just a small nudge to what is right and what is wrong for each of us. Between listening to this and visiting churches and researching many different religions, you should be able to find something that works for you. I would much rather see someone believe in a different religion than not believe in anything. If this world is all you expect to see, then you won't have anything to look forward to when you die, so life becomes a meaningless existance. That isn't good for anyone. Find a faith that's right for you. When you do, your life will improve drastically. Blessings...

Well, in short, it's everyone's free will to choose whether or not he/she believes in the bible. If, after reading the bible, you still don't believe in God, then it's because you refuse to believe the truth. Those who refuse God, the bible says that 'they know not God nor obey not the gospel'. It's up to the individual person to believe the bible or not to believe it. The bible is all truth, so you either accept it as God's infallible word or you don't - simple as that.

2 Thessalonians 1:7-8 - And to you who are troubled reast with us, when the Lord Jesus shall be revealed from heaven with his mighty angels, 8 - In flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know no God, and that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ.

I wouldn't say 'read the bible to find God'. The bible is about people. That's what Christianity is about. It's what Jesus was about. Reading your bible is part of it. But you have to spend time with other Christians to learn more about application of Gods word.

And the best place to find those individuals is at a good church. A good church will know you are there and seek you. Not to pressure you to come there, but to let you know that they notice you because you are important to God. And you should be welcomed to experience His word and His genuine concern for your heart and how you are feeling today. He wants to get to know you.

Not every person claiming to be a Christian is a perfect model of Christ. We are all flawed. Don't let a Christian doing something bad or negative validate your skepticism. Even the people of the Bible were flawed. That's how we can relate to them so well. Another time but the same human emotions. The same mistakes.

But Jesus is about redemption. He paid a price of His life for our mistakes we have made, mistakes you are making, and mistakes you will make. It's covered. You are loved for who you are. No matter what you have done that shames yourself, He loves you. No matter what you are doing now that you are ashamed of, He loves you. He doesn't look down on you like others would. Jesus doesn't see all the shame, guilt, dirty awful things we have done. He sees a heart that wants to be loved. A heart that wants to be entrusted without fear of hurt. He sees the you that you want to be. And he loves that you. And it's who you really are.

So don't be hardened to the love of God. He will love and not hurt. Jeremiah 29:11 says, "For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord. Plans to prosper you, and not to harm you. Plans to give you hope and a future. Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all of your heart. I will be found by you, declares the Lord, and will bring you back from captivity."

What holds you captive? Fear? Doubt? Shame? Go to Him and pray. Then write your prayer down in a journal. Pray many times for days. Then look back at your prayer. You may be surprised at what you find. God loves........you.

Bless you for asking this question.

I don't care about the 10 points. I just hope you read this.

First, did you read the entire Bible? There are many people that have read the Bible and not believed, just as there were people that talked with Jesus and did not believe him.
