Yes, that is why the orthodontist provides wax. You should have been given some wax to place over the braces in the areas that are irritating you.
A small amount of orthodontic wax makes an excellent buffer between the braces and lips, cheek or tongue. Simply pinch off a small piece and roll it into a ball the size of a small pea. Flatten the ball and place it completely over the area of the braces causing irritation. If possible, dry off the area first as the wax will stick better.

Yes it is completely normal to get those, I have had my braces on for 2 1/2 years now and I still get them whenever I get something new on my braces or they get tightened. My advice is don't use the wax unless the pain becomes unbearable but then just use it for a little while, if you use it all the time the skin wont toughen as fast and you will get cuts easily. I suggest just putting some orajel on it that way you can't feel the pain but the skin is still becoming tougher. You could always put a piece of Kleenex between the brace and your lip for temporary relief. If you don't have wax. Also you will probably feel a lot of pressure for the next few days put a piece of floss between the theeth that hurt the most and take some Motrin extra strength that usually works for me
I hope you feel better soon and just wait cause one day we will both have beautiful straight smiles

yes, that will happen for the next few days, but they will go away. Use oragel on the insides of your lips, it will help with the pain. I have had my braces for 3 months now and everyonce in a while the inside of my lip will get sore, but it is not half as bad as the first week when i got them!!! Some mornings I wake up really sore because i slept on the side of my face and pressed my lip into my braces, but after a few hours, the pain goes away!! but seriously, try the oragel or some kind of numbing medicine, it will be a life saver!!!

Totally normal, I've had my braces for almost 2 years and I still get a irritation once in a while with an adjustment.
Did your Orthodontist give you some wax to put on the braces and brackets? If so put some of that on and it should help.

yeah that's normal, you may even get a canker sore or two right off the bat. did they give you some wax to cover the sharp edges with? Also use plenty of listerine. I've had braces about a month and a half.
btw are you really black with blonde hair?

Yes, it's normal! If they didn't give you any wax at the orthodontist, you can pick some up at any foodstore or convenience store for just a few dollars and press it onto whatever metal is rubbing your skin - it should give you instant relief!

This is pretty normal. You're experiencing swelling, and it will go down after a couple of days. One of the best things that I found for this was to rinse with warm salty water a couple of times a day.
