Long ago, Doctors stressed that an ulcer was due to an excess
amount of hydrocloric acid being excreted in the stomach. So much so that it ate a hole in the mucosa (lining). So the standard treatment was tagamet, zantac, etc... that helped the stomach to secret less acid so the sore could heal. Stress and spicy foods were mainly thought to contribute to this. But now, many Doctors think the cause is from bacteria called H.pylori. They recommend treating it with two different anti-biotics and pepto bismol. I doubt the H.pylori directly eat a hole in the lining. I think maybe because of their presence, the stomach secretes more acid in an attempt to rid itself of them. Therefore, you kill the bacteria, the stomach stops secreting the acid and the ulcer heals. Which is about the same thing as taking an acid blocker to stop the acid even in the absence of H. Pylori. As far as avoiding an ulcer, try to relax, get plenty of exercise. Spicy foods now have been shown not to create an ulcer so eat them if you like. And avoiding the bacteria would be nice, but unfortunatly you can't see them so it's impossible. Just drink pure water and wash your hands frequently!

Stress is the common cause of an ulcer.I mean too much stress.Your body has to do something with it so it finds the weakest point. Some people get cold sores some people get heart attacks and the stress attacks the lining of your stomach.Hot foods does not cause ulcers hot foods only agitate a person that already has an ulcer.Drinking too much alcohol can also cause an ulcer .The greatest thing you can do is see a specialist that only deals in this area of practice.

This is one of the most common ways to get hit (or almost get hit). A car is pulling out of a side street, parking lot, or driveway on the right. Get a headlight. If you're riding at night, you should absolutely use a front headlight. It's required by law, anyway. Even for daytime riding, a bright white light that has a flashing mode can make you more visible to motorists who might otherwise Right Cross you. Look for the new LED headlights which last ten times as long on a set of batteries as old-style lights. And helmet- or head-mounted lights are the best, because then you can look directly at the driver to make sure they see your light. A driver opens his door right in front of you. You run right into it if you can't stop in time. Ride to the left. Ride far enough to the left that you won't run into any door that's opened unexpectedly. You may be wary about riding so far into the lane that cars can't pass you easily, but you're MUCH more likely to get doored by a parked car if you ride too close to it than you are to get hit from behind by a car which can clearly see you. You stop to the right of a car that's already waiting at a red light or stop sign. They can't see you. When the light turns green, you move forward, and then they turn right, right into you. Don't stop in the blind spot. Simply stop BEHIND a car, instead of to the right of it, as per the diagram below. This makes you very visible to traffic on all sides. It's impossible for the car behind you to avoid seeing you when you're right in front of it.

An ulcer (in the digestive tract) is actually caused by a bacteria called H.Pylori bacteria. While you can't avoid getting a bacterial infection, it is easily tested for and easily treated. Testing involves getting your breath tested and treatment is antibiotics. To help strengthen you immunity against bacteria and viruses get propper sleep, nutrition and exercise. Balance is the key.

Most ulcers are caused by infection, not spicy food or stress and the second most common cause of ulcers is the use of pain medications
