Good Luck! Yep, nothing dogs like better than cat litter and poop. I wish we knew what is so exciting and tasty about that. I have had the same situation for years now as I have multiple cats and dogs at all times. And no dog has ever gotten sick.
The covered pans help, situate the pan so the opening faces a corner or wall with just enough room for the cat to get inside. I keep mine in closet with the door fixed so only the cat can squeeze through. Use good quality litter( use Arm & Hammer brand) so doesn't smell up the closet and dogs don't seem to notice pan has been used and there is a treat to get! LOL
Let the dog know this is a no no! But they still sneak. Mine finally gave up.

Get a domed litterbox-the opening is largea enough for the cat but too small for a dog to dig in-eating cat feces or litter soaked with cat urine which has a lot of ammonia in it will eventually cause your dog serious esp Liver problems so you must not allow the dog access to the litter box even if it means enclosing it as in a animal play pen area that the cat can get into but Not the dog./ or something similar.

How large is your dog? We solved the problem by placing the litter box higher than the dog could reach - the cat had no problem reaching it.

there are 2 possibilities a million pass the clutter field someplace that the canine can not get to. 2 purchase a clutter field with a lid that the cat has to stroll into, so as that the canine can not get to it. they have them the place to pass into the cat walks up a ramp and into the field so as that cats cant music or throw clutter out of the field. the terrific fulfillment is by ability of removing the temptation. to your canine, the clutter smells particularly exciting and it is one place the place the cat scent is that his isn't, this is a territory concern.

There is a pet spray you can buy and last 24hours its not harmful. The dog wont even get by it because of the smell or something. You wont be able to smell it but the dog will. You can find it at Walmart or maybe even petco. My dog does the same thing and I have been using it and he completely avoids it

If he's in there, chances are he's eating from it. I would also like to know the answer to this question. You can use repellants, but won't that make cats not want to go near it as well?
