What drives a man to marry a Russian bride?

My husband is Russian. Through him I know a few couples where the wife is a Mail Order Bride. The stories are terrible. I have not seen one that worked. Almost all of them ended because the bride left the guy after getting her immigration papers. They can't communicate (often), she usually already has a child and gets pregnant right away when gets here. I understand the need for companionship, but why spend so much money in something like that. I am not criticizing, although I don't praise it. There are a lot of women in N.A. Just want to hear some thoughs

Sometimes the men are lonely, unattractive, introverted types who have had no success with women. They read about all the attractive Russian ladies who are desperate to escape to a better life in America and delude themselves that one of them would like to be his wife - but all she really wants is a meal ticket and a foot into the USA. Often, after the wedding she gives him the flick and he is left lonely again - and broke.

those looking about 300 pounds
those looking for crack
those looking like they were hit by a truck
those looking for an escape from ...whatever
those looking for a one night stand
those looking for daddy
those looking for abuse
those looking for all the wrong reasons

and there's lots of guys ...just looking for someone. loneliness can often lead to desperation. seeing a pretty girl in a picture can give a guy false hope, make him forget that she might be just as desperate.

then of course as some above have said, some may think they're getting something they are not, a subservient wife/lover, a trophy, a thing they can possess. people are strange.

Because sometimes men feel that they can't get a beautiful woman unless they pay for her. Others want a beautiful woman to be like a house slave and if they pay to marry her, they own her. Other men just prefer russian women because they seem exotic (same with mail order brides from asia, etc). I agree that it seems silly to do especially when you know the woman is just trying to get out of russia.

Hi, There is someone for everyone somewhere. Why don't you go on a holiday. Do not be shy or embarrassed about travelling on your own I did it for many years and I have met some fabulous people. Unfortunately there are allot of people who only think of themselves and what they can get out of a relationship, don't give up on women there is someone out there for you to meet and have fun with we are not all the same. Please say where you are from and describe yourself who knows there may be someone looking to cheer a man up.

Presumably the Russian potential wives presented are pre-sorted so they represent a better quality of persons. As you know, it is a long and chancey (also) hunt among local girls to find one with all the attributes one hopes for so one figures, "Why not take a chance?"

I can only think that desperation would drive a man to order a bride. How crazy, I had no idea that still happened.

I think they do not do it just for companionship i belive they feel if they send for one they can mold and shape them the way they want. But don't they get a surprise when it blows up.

i would never do that but i think a lot of men are pretty tired of the holier than thou attitude and unrealistic expectations of many american women and they see this girls as someone who might be grateful for a good man instead of someone in an extremely poor country wanting to find the quickest and easiest way to this land of opportunity.

The men are probably to either too stupid or abusive to find a woman who will put up with their crap, so they find desperate women in other countries who will do anything to get to the U.S. Most of these men don't like American woman because they have their own thoughts & MOST do NOT like being slaves who are not allowed to speak unless spoken too or ordered around.
I have heard horrible things about these women who are willing to marry any jerk with the money to pay for them. It is sad, but that is what desperation gets you.

I think because its his desire to be in control over her entire existence and to have his way with her.
SOme of us women in America KNOW we don't have to put up with that CRAP anymore. Thank God I am an American woman in this day in age. If not, I would be a dead woman , cuz I will no way stand for such BS. The guy would either want to kill me or have to kill me.
I will think for myself, make my own decisions and do what I want, how I want, when I want, unless otherwise agreed upon by discusion, as not to be selffish to my mate.
