Evolution does indeed touch on the origins of man and the Bible. If we evolved from microorganisms...then that would imply death and suffering before the fall. Which isn't biblical. That is why creation believers address this. Evolution needs millions of years to come about....not thousands and according to the bible, the earth isn't that old. Natural selection is observable in nature....microevolution, not macro evolution. We see no evidence of microbes to man. We all have the same facts...it's how we interpret those facts that brings us to our world view.

The idea of macro evolution is contrary to the genesis account of creation. As far as the amount of time, for evolution to be conceivable there needs to be large amounts of time involved which if the earth were really only a few thousand years old that would make it impossible (Not that its not impossible already, because natural selection just selects it does not add new information).

I have not seen these two subjects discussed in the same light.
The origin of the universe is the "big bang" story, 7 billion years ago.
Human beings did not arrive until 6.9999 billion years later, only about 1 million years ago.
You must have read the work of some very confused individuals, of which there are many/

Well Evolution has everything to do with the begining of life. Because the theory of evolution begins with life.
Also Evolution has a lot to do with the age of the Earth especially for ultra-conservative Bible believers.
Evolution requries an extremely long period of time in order for it to occur. Therefore the age of teh Earth of the universe itself has to do with the theory of Evolution. The theory of Evolution stands on teh fact that this world is very very old.

Because of the creationist "scientists".
For example, according to Kent Hovind's challenge (that christians keep talking about, even though it was never valid and the guy's in prison now) claims evolution encompasses the big bang, the forming of the earth, and abiogenesis.

I don't know actually, we don't have this problem in Canada that often, i was talking to someone from the states and they used the word "evolution theory" or something similar to it. i laughed at them. I've heard that they also include creationism in some states as science curriculum, what do they teach in that? it would be a one liner. "in creationism, god created everything, now onto photosynthesis..." sorry if i am being an asshole, but these things frusturate me.

When you get taught from birth that the answer to all difficult questions is: "Don't question, God takes care of those things." Then you tend to be a bit behind the rest of the class.

Religious people are close-minded by nature. They will not waste time properly researching Evolution because they already 'know' it's untrue. But they are happy to bash it all day long.

I believe the earth evolved but also that God created it. He's the greatest scientist after all.

Because the facts support evolution, the only way to attack it is by deceit.
