Ah an easy one, though most people won't admit it, it is because that leaves you with responsibility. When you cut through all the other mumbo-jumbo about religion, wars, who is right about God, etc. that is the true reason. That means there is a final authority, a definite right and wrong, people don't like that. So instead of saying that they cover it all up with a bunch of goofy arguments like I'm sure you will soon see here.

Not every one believes in God. Also most religions have a different idea of what God is. I don't think anyone hates God, it's more like they hate that some people who belives in God feels if you don't believe in God then there is something wrong with you. These days it's even the other way around, if you believe in God you're looked at as an ignorant nut, which is not the case. It's just what you believe in. There's nothing wrong with believing in something that you feel is making you live a happy and fullfilling life.

Well, I don't think you can really actually hate God. The very idea makes very little sense. If you believe in a Supreme Being, that being by definition is the very reason the Universe exists. How can you hate that?
I think a lot of people are put off by the attitudes shown by some believers in God, and that that's why they are closed to the idea. Some deists unfortunately have a tendency to ridicule non-believers, or worse, condemn them. How do you expect someone to like your message when your first act is an act of rejection?
Also, a lot of theists display a basic intolerance of all beliefs that is not exactly theirs. That attitude is widely seen as self-righteous and pretentious. Religion - or spirituality - is supposed to be about humility and acceptance, not superiority over others.
As for hating God Himself - I think that's delusional at best.

There are some who hate God for all the crappy things he's allowed to happen. There are also people who hate the concept of God (different thing) because of all the crappy things this concept has caused to happen. I live a much happier life being the latter. Have a nice, God-free life.

If someone hates God for any other reason it is because of the way people act who claim God as the center of their lives.

They don't hate God, many just don't believe He exist.

But they do hate the what they percieve as religious fanatics who spew hell fire and condemnation, that originates from an God that doesn't exist to them.

Otherwise the hate is probably just the usual human disappointment.

Well, if someone is asking those questions then they believe in God. That doesn't imply that they hate him. They are just trying to understand why bad things happen.

Edited to add:

Duh.. forgot to answer the rest of the question. lol

Other people - like me - don't hate God. I just don't believe in any of them. Some (the god myths) are higher up in the respectability scale then others, though.

I dont think anyone hates god or the ideas behind religion. Speaking for myself, I hate the self-righteous know-it-alls, like Pat Robertson, that claim to speak for god.

God draws people into the light.

John 3:19
And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.

There is no God, so there is no one to hate. They hate people who believe in God.
