You answered your own question. its been a problem since mankind has been on earth. People like to hear what they want to hear. They want to be uplifted and feel good about themselves. They don't like to be offended. They don't like to hear the entire word. They just want Joel Olsteen every Sunday.

Unfortunate huh?

Because they like the false security of going to church and thinking that if they maintain a relationship with God, they will get away with everything they do. They would prefer to sit in a church (like a catholic mass for example) where the priest reads and the congregation goes through the same rituals every week rather than have a preacher preach on a controversal topic each week. They want to live in the GOD IS LOVE fairy tale that makes then believe that as long as they do good to others, they can sin all they want because god is love. They forget that he also judges

I don't know of any legitimate churches that "make people feel comfortable" with all those things. The Christian life isn't about guilt and fear though, it's about God's love, grace, and freedom. That doesn't mean I can do what I want, but it doesn't mean I have to go to church and hear what a bad person I am.

Any place where the Holy Spirit is welcome, there will be conviction. It should come from the Holy Ghost, not man. I do know that God uses people who will allow Him to.
