you are not going to believe this but....there is a cure for it. Ready: drink a gallon of milk everyday for a month....your body will get used to the lactose and you will not have any more symptoms. I know it seems implausible but it is true so whatever to the people who say its not. I tried it for a week and had to stop cause i was so sick but my aunt toughed it out and she can drink milk with no problems now. That "cure" however will only work if you are allergic to one type of enzyme and not both...which i must be.

There is no cure: your body is not generating the enzyme needed to break down the lactose, so it causes you terrible GI upset.
If you don't have the enzyme needed, you must replace it by taking it in as a supplement OR avoid any lactose products completely. Both enzyme replacements and avoidance are considered remedies.

If you choose avoidance, you must be more careful about foods and read the labels in addition to staying away from ordinary dairy products. You also need a calcium supplement to make sure you don't miss calcium in your diet- a cause of osteoporosis.
Are you certain it is lactose you are intolerant to and not the milk proteins? It's a good idea to be definite before starting any regimen.
Check out the link I left you.
Good luck!

My wife is also lactose intolerant and she was fearfull for years that to eat anything that might make her sick. She has used the pills and is able to eat almost all dairy now. The pills are the way to go. I don't think there is any cure out there for those who are intolerant. I will be checking back on this question for others suggestions.

Absolutely. Yogurt. Frozen for in cups. Yogurt has natural enzymes that replace the missing enzymes in your body that cause Lactose Intolerance. Try it and you will be wonderfully surprised at how quickly it works.
