I know this question was intended for people that do not believe in evolution,( or at least I hope it was otherwise I would recomend you to look into it.) But for those that will answer to this question here is an intresting fact.....

The Earth (IPA: /ˈɜː(r)θ/, often referred to as the Earth, Terra, the World or Planet Earth) is the third planet in the solar system in terms of distance from the Sun, and the fifth largest. It is also the largest of its planetary system's terrestrial planets, making it the largest solid body in the solar system, and it is the only place in the universe known to humans to support life. It is also the densest planet in the solar system. Widely accepted scientific evidence indicates that the Earth was formed around 4.57 billion years ago and its natural satellite, the Moon, was orbiting it shortly thereafter, around 4.53 billion years ago.

The outer surface is divided into several tectonic plates that gradually migrate across the surface over geologic time spans. The interior of the planet remains active, with a thick layer of convecting yet solid mantle and an iron core that generates a magnetic field. Its atmospheric conditions have been significantly altered by the presence of life forms, which create an ecological balance that modifies the surface conditions. About 71% of the surface is covered in salt-water oceans, and the remainder consists of continents and islands.

There is significant interaction between the Earth and its space environment. The relatively large moon provides ocean tides and has gradually modified the length of the planet's rotation period. A cometary bombardment during the early history of the planet is believed to have played a role in the formation of the oceans. Later, asteroid impacts are understood to have caused significant changes to the surface environment. Long term periodic changes in the orbit of the planet may also be responsible for the ice ages that have covered significant portions of the surface in glacial sheets.

*That is a very good question. The light would have taken that many years to reach earth. If the bible is correct then God made the heavens and all in them during one creation. I think it just proves the earth is millions of years old.

I don't understand this 6000 year nonsense. Even when I was a Christian I had no problem believing the earth was billions of years old.*

There is no bearing of how many light years away the stars are, from the earth Almighty God created them and the earth in just the right sequence to all work together in harmony, as they do, and the age of the earth is in no way dependant on the distance of the stars or galaxies to it, The stars are millions of light years away from the earth because that is where Almighty God wanted to put them. And has done so.

A: When they were made they were traveling faster than light, and the aether slowed them down.

B: God put them there, travelling at that speed, and placed a light-trail so we could see what he did, not expecting us to figure out red-shift.

C: God put them there with the intent of tricking us into thinking that the universe was older than it is, in an attempt to test our faith. We should be able to disbelieve science in order to have faith in him.

D: Time slowed down in intense gravitational fieds around Earth when the rest of the universe was being made. Due to this, Earth only aged 7 days, while the rest of the universe aged some 4 Billion years.

I'd try to come up with a few more, but I'm sort of tired right now.

6000 years ago there were many advanced civilizations living on earth, including several right here in America. They left behind the tools they used, the dishes they used to eat, the jewelery they wore and the cons they worshiped.

10,000 years ago men invented agriculture in different parts of the world, grew food in the summer and stored it in the winter.

30,000 years ago men painted pictures of animals and themselves on the walls of caves in France. These paintings can still be seen to-day as evidenceof their skills.

50,000 years ago men buried their dead and placed flowers over the graves as a token of lkove and respect.

80,000 years ago religion was introduced for the first time.

One could back and back, despite the fact that some folks say the earth is only 6000 years old.

because God created a mature world and the distance was already filled when he made the universe instantly. Like adam and eve they were not created as babies but as full grown adults along with all of the animals(which solves what came first the chicken or the egg question). This may seem very hard to understand but along with many other things we will not for sure exactly about these things until we die and can ask God if we are in Heaven,
Also God is outside the relm of time so it could of not taken anytime for the light to reach earth, also ifGod is outside the realm of time then it may be possible for time travel just a thought.

A light year is the distance light travels in one year. It measures both by default. I looked it up just because that was such a confusing response.

I'm guessing that you're trying to say, "why are there VISIBLE stars millions of light years away?". There are alot of explanations involving a young earth theory. There is growing evidence and belief that the speed of light has been steadily decreasing, which would mean that light used to travel further in a year than it does currently. Also, the young earth theory is generally associated with a belief in creation. And, if you believe in creation, then it would make perfect sense. If a truly omipotent being wants us to have light, now, then we will have light now. If God created those rules, He could surely bend them, and if He meant for us to enjoy all of His creation, then it wouldn't make sense to create stars that wouldn't be visible for millions or billions of years.

LOL! If I'm 30 years old, then why are there stars "Millions of Light Years Away"?

Theory of Relativity. The Bible states that God "stretched out the heavens". Since time is relative and is affected by the speed of light. The earth and the stars ran at different clock rates during the creation. That is my understanding of why the universe is millions of years old and the earth is relatively young.
