Of course! The flesh will always tempt you to do the wrong thing. The only reason I'm as good as I am is because I know this is how God wants me to be. Now if you don't do something just because you think you might get caught, now that isn't a good reason to not do something. But God SHOULD be the reason we want to be good. He HAS to tell us how to be, or else we wouldn't know. You're on the right track!

Cause God said so is good enough for me. And yes, there are a number of things I would "do" if I knew God wouldn't care. What better reason is ther to do the right thing if honoring God is not? Change issue.
You are required to count cash tills for your job, the money in those tills is not yours, do you steal it if no one is watching even if you knew you could get away with it? The reason you don't should help resolve the question you asked. It is never wrong to do the right thing.

Yeah this happens a lot with me doing the right thing and me being lazy, and yes this is a good reason to do the right thing since God loves us and looks out for us.

That happens to me all the time. It's absolutely a good reason for doing the right thing. No one ever said doing the right thing is easy.

I feel that you end up doing the right thing because your concise tells you that you know better after learning the difference between right and wrong. If you go ahead and do the wrong thing it will become a habit just like doing the right thing is a good habit. Not only a good habit but a good example for our next generation.

Yes, because there is always a battle going on between our flesh and our spirit. Obedience to God in our spirit is the best reason to do anything right because that means you are putting Him first and above all else. To do the right thing isn't even in us, for our righteousness is like filthy rags to God. But to do the right things because God is in you is to be righteous in Him, for He is righteous. Don't ever ignore that voice in your heart. You're doing good!

I have it all the time. Except, I'm an atheist. I do the right thing because I think it's the right thing to do, and it may not be what I want to do. It's called having morals and values, and a conscience. It has nothing, and I mean NOTHING to do with believing in a god.

The Catholic nuns used to beat the fear of God into me (and my peers), but I always thought that was not genuine love for God. A forced reason for doing good is not freewill.
Thus, I do "right" out of respect for myself and as character of my own integrity. With or without God, it is the real me. If God likes that, then he has obtained what many religious people strive for.

I'd like to think I do it to please God....the bible says He looks on our hearts rather than the actual act being the most influence to HIm!
in other words, I can be nice to someone I just don't like and He knows it-that my heart is not right, that I do not,as He commands, love even my enemies so I have learned to do it to please Him, thus my answer is, I do it cause I want to for the reason I just gave, Sometimes I have to pray when my heart isn't totally right and ask Him to help me in that area and He does.
