Paul told us that we should abstain from the blood of animals. Even if you choose to eat clean meant such as chicken and beef, it should be bloodless. I'd say a big bloody medium rare steak is a lot of people's idea of good eating. Why do we not care about that anymore? If you know anything of what I am talking about, you know that it was not done away with at the cross. I'm sure someone will try to say that, but I am speaking of new testament instructions to gentiles. I'm just curious as to why so many of us straight up ignore that.

Dr zoom zoom, Did you even read what I wrote? You might want to try again, and not jump ahead. I was referring to new testament instructions. I was totally right about how some might respond.

Timothy, you calling me a ding dong? HUH? If you want to throw down in fisticuffs fine, I've got jack johnson and tom oleary waiting for ya. Seriously though you might want to check out Acts 21:25. I'm pretty sure gentiles are the exact opposite of Jews.

California....I like your common sense approach and seeing the principle behind the instruction. However, we have to make sure that we are following God's instructions to the up most and not just rationalizing our beliefs. On the whole I would agree with you, with this specific principle at least. And I'd say chicken is not as big a problem as a big bloody steak. But I still think people should care more about what they put in their body.

BOB! It's not Levitical! I'm sorry for getting frustrated, but I think one of the first words I said was PAUL. Instructions for GENTILES! Why does no one read what I say. These levitical comments are starting to sound like cop-outs.

Doug, I do not even know where to begin. But here's where I will end it. I do not and will not ever accept the Church's "authority" to alter God's word. I take what He says at face value. I choose to listen to God rather than men.

"The fact is, the Apostle Peter was very "literally commanded to eat unclean meats" by God Himself! So those who continue to protest the eating of these very same meats, do not understand their significance. As indeed Peter himself at first did not understand. He himself protested the command saying he had never done so, because did not yet understand the true significance of the ceremonial laws concerning them, nor the vision of God wherein it is made manifest they were an example or figure of separation.

Acts 10:9-16

"On the morrow, as they went on their journey, and drew nigh unto the city, Peter went up upon the housetop to pray about the sixth hour:
And he became very hungry, and would have eaten: but while they made ready, he fell into a trance,
And saw heaven opened, and a certain vessel descending unto him, as it had been a great sheet knit at the four corners, and let down to the earth:
Wherein were all manner of fourfooted beasts of the earth, and wild beasts, and creeping things, and fowls of the air.
And there came a voice to him, Rise, Peter; kill, and eat.
But Peter said, Not so, Lord; for I have never eaten any thing that is common or unclean.
And the voice spake unto him again the second time, What God hath cleansed, that call not thou common.
This was done thrice: and the vessel was received up again into heaven."
And though the proponents of Old Covenant law observances joy in splitting hairs and rationalizing away God's Word of acceptance, quite clearly God commands Peter to eat what Israel understands are unclean meats, and warns him not to call these meats which God has cleansed, uncommon or unclean. We know that God doesn't violate His law nor command men to transgress it. Therefore, His command for Peter to eat what he thought were unclean animals, means that these were not unclean in God's eyes, and that now with the inclusion of the Gentiles, they could be eaten. "

While it is true that Christians are not under the Levitical Dietary Laws, many of them were in place due to health reasons. Currently, we have refrigeration and preservatives that were not available to the Jews in the Old Testament.

Some of what we find in new testament scripture is good advice, and nothing more.

The church has the authority to decide on all faith matters, not the Bible, and the church has no problem with people eating rare steak.

Coz...or the bible they read has been manipulated or becoz they dont read it any more.

In fact I think christians are more involved with the problems of this life than in the next one...they dont really care too much about going heaven...if they did...u wouldnt be here asking those questions.
