Anyone is barred from applying for US citizenship if he or she
has committed and been convicted of one or more "crimes involving moral turpitude." See this reference:
http://www.uscis.gov/portal/site/uscis/menuitem.5af9bb95919f35e66f614176543f6d1a/?vgnextoid=12e596981298d010VgnVCM10000048f3d6a1RCRD&vgnextchannel=96719c7755cb9010VgnVCM10000045f3d6a1RCRD

If the naturalization applicant has commited a CIMT, a lawyer won't help. However, DUI is NOTsuch a crime. Here is the official reference: Go to the bottom of page 2 to see a list of the kinds of crimes involving moral turpitude:
http://foia.state.gov/masterdocs/09fam/0940021aN.pdf

So the person may apply for naturalization and, barring any other ineligibility, will get US citizenship.

you elect a rapidly blood relative (determine, sibling or grownup new child over age 21) who's a US citizen and who has adequate earnings and sources to guarantee your help for 10 years to sponsor you. in the experience that your sponsor's petition is common, you wait in line for admission. After admission, then you definitely can get the fairway card. what's your citizenship? what's your relationship to your sponsor? Siblings from some international locations are waiting 2 many years or greater for admission. it is how long the line is earlier than you.

Any conviction, including misdemeanors, can keep one from gaining citizenship.

Consult a lawyer, but you may find it will be a losing battle if persued.
