i want to find out some preliminary info about moving to australia, the first question is how long might it take to get to australia from hawaii? a sub question would regard employment in a country that offers everything that i look for in a non-us country? the sub sub category is employment opportunities for a person qualified in intermidiate tech support? i look to a population that i have encountered as friendly, worldly and understanding. i have many questions and look for honest answers!

I have lived in Hawaii, and now live in New Zealand. Go for a visit before you even consider making that big of a move. And make sure you do things like: visit a Realtor, go to a few open homes, check out the prices/selection at the grocery store, etc. Pay attention to the little details that will affect your everyday life.

Jetstar (www.jetstar.com) has round-trip tickets from HNL to Sydney starting at AU$560 (~US$433).

You became a citizen of planet earth after they freed you from area 51 in the 1950s, didn't you?
Count on something like this if you are flying (in an earthly atmosphericaly bound airplane) not including layovers: From wherever you are in Hawaii to Honolulu - From Honolulu to Dallas/Ft. Worth or LAX - From Dallas/Ft. Worth or LAX to Atlanta - From Atlanta to JFK - From JFK to Sydney (this stretch may include several stops as well) - From Sydney to wherever you will. Austrilian air commuters may have a shorter route. Cheers!

Australia has some very tough immigration laws. For one, they have a maximum age limit. They also insist that you have useful skills. Before you plan your move, make sure they will even let you in.
