that wasnt the best idea...yeah you should just go see a doctor about that one, otherwise it could get really bad and spread infection all over your mouth.

Thats widely used. and that i wont allow you to recognize you're stupid to pierce your lip, I had my chum pierce my nips so I understand. notwithstanding. you're very stupid for utilizing an ear rings on your lip piercing. even if that is a classic stud there is an truly intense danger it is going to diminish your mouth or (no longer joking right here) your lip will heal round it and also you'll ought to get it decrease out. i recognize a lady this befell to. Now she has an gruesome scar. also, you want to stretch the hollow earlier you position rings in, then lubricate the jewellery with some thing sterile and placed the jewellery in. Use alcohol free mouthwash after each and every meal, cigarette or some thing like that. No kissing. No oral. no longer for a month and a 1/2. no longer some thing stupid. Dont like it? Take it out.

Don't listen to a lot of the people who have answered this question. I have my lip peirced and it is perfectly normal for it to swell quite a bit.In fact, when you get it pierced professionally, if you have a stud, they make it longer than it needs to be to make room for the swelling, then you get it downsized later. You don't want to take it out or play with it too much. Get some H2ocean (really good antibacterial spray) and use it three times a day. Other than that, don't touch it. Especially not with you hands because there are so many germs under you nails that it could get infected nd a perminant bump would remain on your face.

Swelling is usually a response to a trauma or a sign of infection.
DO NOT use hydrogen peroxide or alcohol if you can avoid it (unless that's all you have). Clean the area with soap and water, dry it, and apply a triple antibiotic ointment or polysporin.
Visiting a doctor is up to you. If your lip has been swollen over a day, feels hot to the touch, has red streaks coming from it, is leaking fluid (such as pus), or has other worrisome symptoms, definitely go to your doctor. I recommend at least calling the office to see if you should come in.
Most doctors will tell you to remove the piercing. If you absolutely do not want to, ask your doctor for advice on how to care for the piercing. He or she may prescribe an antibiotic in case of an active infection--if so, take it.
If you decide to keep the piercing, you might want to stop by a piercing shop and purchase a new piercing kit or a bottle of piercing wash. Even a store like Claire's will carry it.
Also, keep a close eye on your lip. If the piercing starts to work its way out, you may be rejecting it, in which case it's best to go ahead and remove it. If you pierced it with something other than surgical steel, there's a better chance of this happening. Actually, if you pierced it with anything other than surgical steel, you really should take it out or replace it.
Best of luck, and remember--you can always take it out, wait for it to heal, and get a professional to do it for you.

Well...for 1...never EVER pierce a part of your own body...commen sense. Piercing is a job for the professionals...they know what they're doing.
2. You need to go to the doctor...it's not normal for any piercing to be swollen and if you did it yourself then it probably is infected. If you ignore this problem then it'll get worse. Do something now.

With any piercing, swelling is normal. As long as you clean the piercing and avoid playing with the area, it should go down in 3-10 days.
You should have known that if you were getting into self piercings though. Generally people research things before they do them. Way to go for being A)stupid and B)irresponsible.
Next time, go to a professional piercer...then you won't have to worry because it will have been done correctly.

How swollen?
If it hurts this is usually a sign of infection.
Natural Sea Salt soaks can help cleanse and heal.
This wasnt a good idea...Professional peircers use autoclaved jewlery. You most likely did not, and could very well have an infection. Go see a pro.
