It's become a habit above and beyond just a way for you to soothe yourself. The act of cutting can be somewhat of an addiction since it releases endorphins and then you crave that same feeling regardless of whether you have experienced a major negative event.

Please talk to someone about this; you are not "crazy" because you have an urge to cut yourself, but it is definitely not a healthy behavior (due to the health and safety risks associated with it). Best bet would be to find someone to help you get over your urge to cut yourself.

Take care.

You're addicted. Even when everything is fine you probably still get the urge and you don't understand it. Well you do it in the first place to make yourself feel better when something is going bad, right? Well that means that it makes you feel good. So even though nothing is going bad, that doesn't mean that you don't want something that will make you feel good. This feeling will only stop if you stop all together. Well actually you'll still want to do it but obviously you're addicted and you need help. I mean it sounds pretty bad if you still want to do it even though nothings wrong. You should really get yourself help, tell the school counselor or something, they usually don't have to tell your parents. Bottom line: in order for this feeling to stop, you have to stop.

Cutting can become an addiction. You need that adrenaline rush you get when you cut. The reason you started stemed from something but, now its out of control and you cant handle it. Another answerer stated what you need. You need help. No one will think less of you when you go and get help as a matter of fact they will respect you more. Dont delay get help tonight as a nearby crisis center. And when all of this is done let me know how youre doing okay. Peace out and God Bless...........

i know exactly how you feel, and i'm not just saying that. i am trying to stop myself. it's the hardest hing i've ever tried to do. it's like an addiction and it's so hard to ignore. the other day i got a 100 on a chemistry quiz and felt really good about it. later on i felt like i didn't even deserve it, for no real reason, so i did cut myself. my boyfriend used to as well and we promise each other that we won't and he's been strong enough to stop. i, however cannot. it bothers him that i can't just stop like he could. but he understands how hard it really is. taking my mind off of things didn't really help, sad to say. but it seems like that's not the case with you too. i'll bet that you've been doing it for quite sometime now though. i've been for about a year and a half. you should try as hard as you can to stop before it gets any worse. if you have someone, talk to them. if you feel brave enough, talk to your parents/whomever. i'm, at the request of my boyfriend, asking my mom if i can go back to counciling (yuck..but hopefully help) tomorrow... wish me luck. i can't tell you "what's happening" to you, but i know that things always get worse before they get better. so, i would talk to someone before it gets anymore out of hand...if possible. e-mail me if you want to talk m_quencer@yahoo.com i want you to feel better and not wait like me and end up hurting even more people. e-mail me whenever you feel like doing it if you want. we can do this. you can beat your "obsession" i wish you SO much luck, i hope that you can stop and not go overboard withit like me. my first step would be to get rid of my cutting apparatus (razor, knife, pencil sharpener blade, etc.) try your hardest and tell someone...that's the hardest part...

you shouldn't want to do this at all. and now that you are happy especially. only you can stop this. you are in control of your own body, just tell yourself youre strong and dont need to cut yourself.
enjoy your life and the things around you without having to hurt your body.

See a doctor or psychologist now. My best friend cut herself - she ended up committing suicide - I am not trying to scare you but you need professional help - not answers

cutting yourself is an addiction and is a sign that there are underlying issues that need to be dealt with and resolved before you can stop cutting

You are sick. I don't mean this in an offensive way, but you really need to seek professional help. No one on Yahoo! Answers can help you with this. Please talk to someone you trust and get some medical attention.
