I know I posted tis before, but I like getting as many people as possible's view on things.

The more I think about it, the more I realize that my personal spirituality is more in line with songs such as "Strawberry Fields Forever" and "Breathe" than any dogma of an organized religion.

And when you get right down to it, is there any differance between reading the words written by man in the Bible and applying them to your life, or listening to the words sung by man on Dark Side of the Moon or the White Album and doing the same?

I'm not suggesting that I have alters to these musical artists or that I pray to them for guidence, more like I listen to what they have to say and think "Yeah... I can dig that."

What do you think of this? Wrong? Right? Crazy?

In closing, I'll leave you with my favorite scene from the movie Michael.

"Remember what John and Paul said."
"The Apostles?"
"No, the Beatles. All you need is love."

Stayathomem0m, how much of the bible was written while the writers were on opium? Look at Revelations.

Don't believe in hell, Jesus Freak. And that's an ACDC song. They're cool, but I don't have a spiritual connection to them.

Just saying, Stayathomem0m, drungs have been used to aid spirituality for centuries. I don't think the fact that the Beatles may have been altering their minds while writing a song makes it's message any less valid.

the_nomad_merchant, do you have proof of that? There are a lot of people on the cover of Sargent Pepper.

I am an extremely spiritual person, and I have to tell you The Beatles, and Pink Floyd in my opinion are two of the greatest rock groups ever.
Every year on my birthday I play Time and The Fool ON The Hill. They will be played at my funeral as well.
There is nothing wrong with finding truth in art.
That is what art is, Humanities expression of truth.
At least you don't base it on Isane Clown Pose'.lol

It's your spirituality, and you're allowed to base it on anything you want. I find most Pink Floyd music, and a fair amount of Beatles music, to be very soothing, uplifting, and enlghtening.

Pink Floyd and the Beatles both made very spiritual music - maybe they were divinely inspired. It's just people sharing their spiritual experiences with us, no different from the Bible or Qu'ran, only without all the annoying rules and regulations.

The Beatles at least is based on "If it feels good, do it!" notion. The Beatles did drugs (giving the drug culture a kick start) and idolised the evil occultist Aleister Crowley (he's the second guy from the left at the top of the Sgt. Pepper album cover).

'nuff said.

I see absolutely nothing wrong with it. I grew up listening to Pink Floyd and they are still my all-time favorite group. There is a lot of meaning in their music, and many layers of "truth". If it brings you peace, understanding and growth, go for it!

I could definitely understand that, though the bands would be different and it would be less driven by the words. My favorite band is stereolab and there is this one point in Metronomic Underground where the music just seems to gently crush everything (I don't know how else to describe it) and I find it incredibly moving.

Yeah, I can relate and if it works for you, there's nothing wrong with it.

Oh, I thought it was all you knead is love. Well, that changes everything.

By the way, I think the book of Revelation may havebeen an esoteric description of the opening of the 7 chakras and Kundalini (the dragon) moving up the spine.

Not at all. Because the "truth" is within you. The Wizard Of Oz is full of "truth" everyone likes it but most don't know why. Walk your yellow brick road {golden path} and you will find the truth.

that's tremendous! i come across this question as Shine on You loopy Diamond area One comes on. Now: i come across no longer some thing incorrect with it. All you want is Love is an truly good motto for existence. notwithstanding, that's all contained in the translation of the music: Breathe contained in the Air continuously gave the impression of a drug music to me - "Breathe, breathe contained in the air; don't be afraid to care," feels like someone respiration in some thing. at the same time as those are the philosophies of a handful of adult males - "Revolution" become only Lennon, "Get Your Filthy hands off My desolate tract," become Waters - so is maximum faith. Christianity is depending around the former testomony and the teachings of Jesus, Buddhism st ems from Hinduism and the preparation of Buddha, and that i might want to bypass on. notwithstanding, utilizing music as a handbook to existence is also an quite risky component. i do not recommend attempting to verify to far into thi ngs, which contain the note "upward push" being lower back and lower back used throughout the White Album, or some thing else like that - keep in innovations Charles Manson? Yeah, precisely. in my opinion, although, the songs of purple Floyd replaced my existence, extensively. I went from being a teeny-bopper to blowing my innovations on darkish area of the Moon, and that i might want to snigger and call myself insane via music "mind damage," i began to have socialistic innovations because of "money." Then i become presented to John Lennon many years later, the first music performed for me being "operating type Hero." Now that one hit me. It become deep lyrics, like Floyd, yet compared to purple Floyd, it become lyrics you would possibly want to really relate to. on the grounds that then, songs like "provide Peace a danger," "All you want is Love," "Strawberry Fields continuously," and "Wild Honey Pie," are turning out to be an fundamental area of me. perhaps no longer Wild Honey Pie, I savour that one, although. earlier i bypass, i am going to go away you with this - no one we assume of is in our tree, it should be intense or low. Cheers!
