I have an inside dog, his a chinses crested powderpuff. His about 15 lbs. He is very hyper dog. I want a smaller dog that would go well with him. One that has nice coat of hair but doesnt shed( or should so much) . But smaller in size, but not teacup.
slick haired dogs out of the picture.
Thanks for the help!

Ask you local animal shelter if you can "test drive" their dogs by bringing yours with you. Pick a couple that meet your criteria, and see how they interact with your dog.
Safest thing would be to try to find a younger dog that is willing to submit to your current dog to avoid fights.

A poodle. It doesn't shed, its playful and very smart and then you could have a powderpuff and a fluffball. (sorry, couldn't help myself.) If you want one close in size, a miniature would likely be the closest as a toy poodle runs 5 to 8 pounds.
I would be careful and get one on trial. Ask is you can keep it for a week or so to see if it gets along with your powderpuff. Your present dog might not take to having another dog in the house. You should also make sure that they are not left home alone together during this trial period as they could hurt each other. You don't necessarily have to go for a puppy either. I had a toy poodle for 2 years and she was queen of the house. She did not like many other dogs. Then we were asked to take on another 3 year old poodle so we brought her home and there were a few disagreements between them where the first one showed she was top dog. They soon settled together and now chase each other all over the house playing.
Each dog, regardless of its breed, has a different personality and some will get along great together while others won't.

I have a Yorkshire terrier mix we adopted when she was a yr. old They are fun loving affectionate dogs. Not hyper though. They do not shed either.Their are alot of loving playful dogs in Shelters / Humane Societies or Rescues who really need loving homes. Consider checking them out. You could be saving a dogs life and getting a great companion for you and your dog. A great website to check out is www.Petfinder.com Good Luck!

Maybe a Jack Russell terrier. They are small but very playful, and very intelligent dogs.
