You can actually get nauseous from swallowing blood. Blood contains bacteria and viruses, especially if the person it came from is sick. Generally not a good idea.

If it is your own, no harm. If it is from someone with aids or hepatitus or a lot of other diseases, you could get the disease from them, just from having it in your mouth.
