i recently told my boyfriend that i got accepted and am going to go to a college about 3 hours from our hometown. he was very upset and is now even threatening suicide.. what should i do?

he is faking, call his bluff and when he doesnt call him a chicken..

He is probably trying to keep you by threatening suicide. Its only 3 hours away. So talk to him about it, if he doesn't get over it after awhile and he's serious, have him talk to a counselor. You should live your life and take this opportunity. Maybe if he admits to just wanting to be with you, you could have him apply too? But be careful. If he's trying to control you, this may someday turn into an unhealthy relationship, if it isn't already.
One of my friends got mixed up with a druggie/thief at her last school, and when she came to her senses and decided to break up with him, he threatened to kill himself. She got in trouble because the principle took his side and thought she was causing trouble. You need to be really careful.

He's being a drama queen. Tell him if he threatens suicide again, you're going to go to the authorities for his protection. He can look forward to a couple of weeks in a straight-jacket while they decide if he's serious or not.
Explain that you're going to college and your life will go on. If he chooses to end it all, then that's his decision.
He will have to grow up. I suggest that you find an adult boyfriend when you get to school. This BOY friend of yours has issues...

Threatening suicide over this isn't just overreaction, it's a sign of head trouble. Your boyfriend should get some counseling.

All I have to tell you is that he is threatening suicide in order to CONTROL you! I had a guyfriend who was just like that although most of the time he was "nice" and didn't seem like he would go towards that at all! But he was so possessive and controlling anyways! And please, don't sacrifice YOUR FUTURE and YOUR EDUCATION for anyone else! If you want to be educated and have a good future, do it for yourself! Especially if it's a reputable college!

Do you really want to be involved with someone who - when you get AWESOME news like college acceptance threatens to kill themselves. Tell him to get a car , familiarize himself with the bus schedeule or move on - and let you be the drama queen. .

eveytime you want to better yourself, is he going to threaten his life? Don't hold yourself back from doing anything. life is too short. If you think he's serious, maybe you should tell someone. If you don't go to college, you'll regret it!

guess wat??! about 90% of those who're threatening to take on their lives just dont do it.. they threaten you so wouldnt go on with the college that you wanted.. if he's that kind of bf., he's selfish.. a good boyfriend supports you..
