Theology describes the study, writing, research, or speaking on the nature of gods, especially in relation to human experience. Typically the concept includes the premise that such study is done in a rational, philosophical manner and can also refer to specific schools of thought — for example, progressive theology, feminist theology or liberation theology.

Although most people tend to think of theology in the context of modern religious traditions, like Judaism or Christianity, the concept actually dates back to ancient Greece. Philosophers like Plato and Aristotle used it in to reference the study of the Olympian gods and the writings of authors like Homer and Hesiod. Closely associated with taking action that should be considered immoral is the fact that there is so much evil in the world today. If there are any gods, why don't they act to eliminate it? The absence of substantive action against evil would be consistent with the existence of evil or at least indifferent gods, which is not impossible, but few people believe in such gods. Most claim that their gods are loving and powerful; the suffering on Earth makes their existence implausible.People who argue that the universe is designed face numerous problems and contradictions in their arguments. One of the most interesting is that if everything with a useful purpose is necessarily designed, then isn't the same true of the mind of the alleged designer? The Argument from Religious Experience is that many people have what they label as religious experiences - experiences of the supernatural, like heaven or angels or even a god. Because we believe the experiential claims which people generally make - like that they went to the store or that they own a car - then we should be willing to believe these claims as well.

It is the study of God.

In the western world, then, the theology student therefore is, by and large, a student of history and literature. The history of the depictions of God's interactions with humanity, and the resulting conclusions about the nature of God. The literature, written in various languages (which should be learned), describes the narrowly selected elements of the religious canon, those writings that have been deemed most inspired in their detailing of God's word.

shaboopi is inaccurate. All Jews are "Messianic" interior the experience that we glance ahead to a messiah in the destiny coming to earth. The messiah isn't divine, although, he will be a mortal guy. the concept a guy can be a god or G-d can be a guy is between the purely appropriate heresies in our faith--for that reason, Jews won't be able to settle for JC because the messiah because to achieve this could be to settle for him as a god, it particularly is blasphemy. To worship more suitable than one G-d is going adversarial to the very backbone of Judaism (it particularly is that there is purely one G-d.) and to declare to be a "Xian Jew" or a "Messianic Jew" (interior the experience that those human beings propose) is like retaining someone is a Xian Hindu. Joachim is likewise incorrect. Lubavitchers believed that the Rebbe would were the messiah till he died--now that is purely a small sect of them who nonetheless have self belief that he's not useless (for if someone dies, they certainly won't be able to be the messiah) and nonetheless are waiting for him to proclaim himself because the messiah. it isn't all of them through any ability. Peace i'd be happy to complicated on something or answer any questions you may have, purely e-mail me in case you experience the want. Peace :-)
