My fiance just got discharged from the national guard. And he can't find a job around where we live and he's talking about going to Florida for a job. Are there any type of jobs that you think that wouldn't turn you down for a discharge around where we live in Texas- so he wouldn't have to go out of state?

Sorry, I didn't say what kind of discharge it was. It's dishonorable.

And he said he's guaranteed a job in Florida.

Why should anybody hire him with a dishonorable discharge? That reads the same as a criminal conviction to a prospective employer.

Next thing you know some AWOL a++-wipe will be running for political office.

Unfortunately a dishonorable discharge is bad news as far as getting a respectable job with any state or government office. Pretty much he can expect is a job most people won't take or one that he won't be able to get promotions in. Tell him I feel bad for him but good luck

Having a Dishonorable Discharge is like being a convicted felon. It is going to be really hard to get any kind of decent job. Tell him to go work the oil fields. If he can't get a job there tell him to flip burgers or work for the Disney Corp. Do you know it is illegal for him to own a firearm, and vote?

If it is a dishonorable discharge, it may be difficult for him to find work, but I don't think changing states will make that much of a difference. He will still find the same difficulties as he is now, unless he has something lined up already.

What kind of discharge is it? If it's honorable then he is OK. If it's less than Honorable or Dishonorable good luck !

Nevermind.....

Mom always said "if you don't have anything nice to say......."

Oh well...sorry Mom....

Maybe he should have thought about his future first!

Maybe you should think hard about marrying a convicted felon!

Once again, sorry Mom
