I once saw a tv special on semi-permanent tattoos that last up to 6 months before fading. My friend is thinking about getting a tattoo and I recommended this 6-month semi-permanent thing, but I haven't seen that tv special in a while and I don't know much about it anymore. Does anybody know where I can find some information on that for her? Thanks so much! :)

It wasn't henna and it wasn't a TV commercial. It was actually a SHOW about this new type of tattoo that you can get as an alternative to permanent ones. I'm not looking for a product, I'm looking for information about this stuff.

SCAM!
Most of the semi-permanent tattoos claim the ink will fade, that its not put it deep into the skin, that your body will absorb the ink/break it down or whatever and its all a lie.
The tattoo is either permanent or not. Don't let your friend do it because I know people who have fallen for it and have a half-assed piece of 'artwork' stuck on their body (some have gotten cover-ups, but that not the point)
There are press on and air brush tattoos that can last for a few weeks, and obviously, you know about Henna...but semi permanent tattoos just don't exist...

Some tattoo shops will do airbrush tattoos or henna, both of which are temporary and would let you see a design before actually getting it tattooed. Call around to see if any in your area offer these things. When you do go get a tattoo for real, the artist applies a stencil which allows him to see where the lines of the tattoo need to go and let you see exactly where it will end up. Sometimes, with custom work, the stencil is drawn directly onto the body, but with most tattoos, it'll be traced onto carbon paper and then transfered almost like a temporary tattoo onto the body.

i have never heard of a semi permanent tattoo that actually uses ink. that just doesn't exist. maybe it was a temporary tattoo applied to the skin that lasts for a while? tho 6 months is a long time for that to last. i have heard of them lasting for a month or so. like svetlanas on the real world road rules challenge.

I read an article about a new kind of tattoo ink that is supposed to be introduced to the market early this year. This ink will only require ONE laser treatment to remove, opposed to 5 to 10 treatments with the traditional ink! So when I get my tattoo, I'm going to look for someplace that has this new technology available, just in case i ever want the thing off for some reason, which I don't find likelt, but still.

The best bet is the internet..if you wait around for it on tv again you'll probably be looking for quite some time. But tv products ALWAYS seem to come out on selfs. You just need to know where to look. Untill then you can go into stores like Spencers that has body art crafts your friend can use...it doesn't last long, but you'll get the feel of experimenting and whether or not you want to have something permanent on your body.
