There is no such thing as a chief master sergeant in the NG. In the Navy, there is a Master Chief Petty Officer. In the army [which the NG is part of] , you have a Master Sergeant, or First Sergeant, who are both E-8's; followed by either a Command Sergeasnt Major, or Sergeant Major, who are both E-9's.
