Read The Dark Tower series from Stephen King. Books 1-4 are the better half but the whole story is absolutely magnificent. You would most likely enjoy the dark, fantasy world King creates.

A collection of short stories by Franz Kafka. I was really fascinated with The Hunger Artist.
Or some Dostoyevsky.
Or for some good space-out reading try Mary Higgins Clark.

The People of Sparks. It's a young adult book.
I Capture the Castle is another good one, too.
Messiah, by Boris Starling, is a VERY good serial killer story! One of the best I have ever read.
There are a lot of really gooooood young adult books. Browse through the children's section of Borders (or another book store), and you will be surprised at what you find. :)

If you're into scifi try:
Ender's Game by Orson Scott Card
Dune by Frank Herbert
Both of these boks are the first in a long series of books. They both stand alone if you dont want to invest in a series

As your question was made as "Food & Drink", I would recommend you "Enciclopedia Culinaria - LA COCINA COMPLETA" - "Culinary Encyclopedia - THE COMPLETE COOKING", wrote by MarÃa Mestayer de Echagüe (Marquesa de Parabere) (Marchioness from Parabere). I don't know if you read spanish or if the book got traslated. Perhaps it will help.
