God (Paramatma) and the individual (Jivatma) are portrayed as two different entities in the dualistic portion of the scriptures.
But God being the source of all, the primordial factor alone is, is the declaration of Hindusim. This is Advaita or non-dualism.
These are various ways in the spiritual path. God alone is. Everything is a manifestation of God. Ishavasyam idam sarvam (God is all this). Om iti yetat aksharam idam sarvam (Om is all this) is the declaration of vedas. Tat twam asi (You are That).
Both schools of teaching dualist and non-dualist are required in the path of spiritual progress. Until we are embodied and we identify ourselves as separate entity from God, until we identify ourselves with our thought flows(Samkalpa), we create an individuality and needs to worship Godhood the source without the individuality. This is Duality (dvaita).
Once we stop identifying ourselves with our thought patterns (Samkalpa) we become one with our source and there is no separate individuality in us (like in our deep sleep). This state is referred as Advaita.
Both leads to the same goal. One is the path of enquiry (Gnyana) and the other is the path of devotion (Duality). Both are not distinct or exclusive paths but one and the same path perceived in different ways.

Dualists (dvaita) hold that God and creation are separate entities, while non-dualist (advaita) hold that the self and God are one in the same.

Thereare literally hundreds of different dualist perspectives. The non-dual (advaita) is a little more complicated than can be explained here.
