My dog just picked up a fresh turd from my other dog and ate it before I could stop him!!! Why did he do that?

Dogs unfortunatly have problems communicating with us. They try their best but sometimes we dont listen. When dogs eat poop it is due to two reasons both completely different but neither the less associated with this problem, the main reason is dogs will eat fecal matter when bored, upset, disturbed ect, the react as a naughty school kid and eat poop to get your attention. The latter is due to your animal feeling 'off color' they believe that returing their poop to their body will help digest more vitamin and mineral content.

Sometimes it's due to a vitamin or mineral deficiency. Sometimes it's from boredom. Seriously, keep the yard clean so he won't have so much of it to eat!

No one knows why dogs do that but it is common.
Ask your vet for some "Forbid" or "Deter" or you can try sprinkling some Adolph's Meat Tenderizer on his food, sometimes that will stop it.

i think they do it cuz they can smell and taste what the previous dog ate
