What is amazing, is that every 10 years or so, someone new comes out with his great secret of the bible. And I am always reminded of Eric Cartmen, who said, "If we just sing about how much we love Jesus, all the Christians will buy our crap." It's a work of fiction, not historical text. King Kong didn't climb the Empire State Building, either.

it is my understanding that the holy grail refers to the cup which Jesus Christ drank out of during the last supper. This cup was commissioned by one of his friends to be made especially for Jesus. Just because Da Vinci didnt include the cup in his painting doesnt mean it didnt exist. I base my answer on the Biblical reading

gee, I didn't know that God commissioned Leonardo to paint a picture for us to see. (yes, I'm being sarcastic) just because some fruit loop doesn't put the holy grail in a picture doesn't mean it didn't exist, it means Leonardo forgot the cup, could be because he wasn't there.

Please note that Da Vinci was born in 1452 AD and was not an eyewitness to the last supper. Therefore the last supper painting was based on accounts handed down through generations. As anyone knows, stories gain and lose information as they are passed on.

da vinci probably didn't paint a cup because da vinci's Christ would be too humanized by such a temporal object as a cup
