I urge, then, first of all, that requests, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for everyone—
From 1 Timothy 2:1.
Look those who have died and behold the face of God are closer to God that we are just now. Nothing wrong with asking them to pray for us. I mean, if you had a need -- say for a good outcome for your kid brother's brain tumor surgery --, you wouldn't hesitate to ask the person next to you in church to join you in prayer for him -- would you? Would you be more confident/comfortable asking a fellow sinner to pray for you -- or one in heaven who is no longer capable of any sin? Given a choice between the two...I know who I'd pick................"The prayer of a righteous man is powerful and effective". James 5:16

One thing the Catholic Church stands resolutely against is the idea that the end justifies the means. If the way you go about doing something is evil, then the good you think you may do is useless. We're not stupid. You're not Catholic. We don't pray to Mary. A Catholic parish priest did not tell you to post this.

Here's one:
Eph 6:18 Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;
Let me clarify one thing: "SAINTS" in the Bible, simply refers to believers. Notice also that it says to pray FOR them not TO them.

"I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men; For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty. For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior; Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth. For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus; Who gave himself a ransom for all, to be testified in due time." 1 Tim. 2:1-6

But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you;
