You can see how easy it is to set one off in Iraq many go off everyday killing many. So my question is why havent they used car bombs to kill people all over the world everyday its an easy way to kill many and cause great damage and cause panic and chaos. It just doesnt make sense to me

The war doesn't have to be global for the victory to be achieved. A regional victory can have global consequences.

A concentration of their forces on one area, a localized victory is just as important. Napoleonic in effect. Such a victory can be achieved with far more ease (though it is extremely difficult) in Iraq then on a world stage.

They have funding for their operations in Iraq, they have targets, they have the world's media at their door step and they have the world's more powerful nation on its heels.

Why would they want to go anywhere else?

Killing 20 or 30 cilivians in Singapore is not going to have the affect that killing 20 or 30 American soldiers in Iraq well.

They did their dirty work here, in the air. They are too cowardly to face us on the streets. Over there, they can blend into the crowds and nobody is going to look twice at them if they act suspicious. Plus, over there it's a lot easier to move their expolsives around, cause no matter how many times a day there's killings and bombings, you can still walk down the street with a bomb in your hands and nobody says a word. Try that here and you wouldn't make it a half block. It's not so much police and military security as it is the resolve of the people. No matter if a town full of people hate the current President, they're not about to let some jerk terrorist wreck their town. Unlike in the Middle East, the locals know that if the town gets blown up, the government is not going to come in and rebuild it. So terrorist acts in the US take a lot of careful and clandestine planning, even if it's for a car bomb -which over there is an everyday thing.

One of the main reasons is that it is not that easy to obtain entry into many countries. Where does an uneducated criminal get a passport? The training and financing necessary to stage an attack on the US or say Australia would be very lengthy and expensive. To strike in Iraq where there is no immigration control and blending in with the local populace is much easier. Another factor is that most countries do not have unexploded ordnance lying around. There are also effective law enforcement agencies in most places.

Why doesn't killing 30 or 40 Singapore citizens not have the same effect of killing 20 or 30 U.S. soldiers in Iraq? Isn't that a terribly strange idea?
