Yes the freshman year counts. It all counts. The thing that don't count towards graduation is remedial classes that some people have to take. When you start to college/university in the U.S. you have to take College Placement Tests. If you score poorly in those classes you must take what was called "0 level" classes when I went to school. You still get a grade and yes it counts in your GPA. BUT since it is a 0 level class it is below college level/ remedial classes. It will not count towards your graduation credits.
For example, in math most colleges require College Algebra. Some graduating high school students cannot just go enroll in College Algebra and pass it. So you have to start with Elementary Algebra, then Intermediate Algebra, then take College Algebra. At the university I attended in Oklahoma, both Elementary and Intermediate Algebra were 0 level classes. But believe me if you get a bad grade in them, it will reflect on your GPA. Good Luck.

Yes, freshmen year counts. It is said that if you can handle freshmen year, then you are okay for all of the others. Your freshmen year grades will go on your college transcript. Sometimes to get jobs as a new college graduate, your transcript will be requested to help make evaluations, so work hard!

Yes! it is extremely important...it is the basis for the rest of your college career. Getting a good GPA freshman makes it much easier to maintain that good GPA for the rest of your time in college...it is much better to start off on the right foot....if you waste your freshman year partying you will have to work twice as hard the rest of the time you are in college to get a decent GPA..trust me I know from experience...this is where I am right now.

Of course it counts! Why in the world would you think it wouldn't? It all goes on your transcripts and I noticed that the freshman year marks tend to either help your GPA go high or hold it back once you're doing well.

YES!
I've never heard of a college admissions officer calculating a GPA that excludes the freshman year.

I'm sure if you do awful it will look bad on your college apps, but it's not your most important year. however your most important year is your junior year because most people apply in the early senior year, when the grades from the year before are the most prominent.

yes it absolutely counts. the thought that is wouldn't is absurd. to be honest your college will ask for your transcript which will show your grades from k-12.

everyone goes through being a freshman - it is a prerequisite to being in the higher year(s)- unless you are a genius where they can put you on the senior year straight away.
