While you are taking paxeva you may need to be monitored for worsening symptoms of depression and/or suicidal thoughts at the start of therapy or when doses are changed. This concern about the increased risk of suicidal thoughts or behaviors may be greater if you are 18 years of age or younger and are taking paxeva . In patients younger than 18 years, the period of risk may extend beyond start of therapy or when doses are changed. Your doctor may want you to monitor for the following symptoms: anxiety, panic attacks, difficulty sleeping, irritability, hostility, impulsivity, severe restlessness, and mania (mental and/or physical hyperactivity). These symptoms may be associated with the development of worsening symptoms of depression and/or suicidal thoughts or actions. Contact your healthcare provider if you develop any new or worsening mental health symptoms during treatment with paxeva. Do not stop taking paroxetine.
Do not stop taking paroxetine without first talking to your doctor. It may take 4 weeks or more for you to start feeling better and unpleasant side effects may be experienced if you stop taking paxeva suddenly.

Yes. Obsessive insomnia, severe weight gain, sexual disfunction, increased cortisol retention, depression, liver damage, anxiety, headaches, nausea. Yes, I had it all; yes, I have more negative effects than this; yes, it is all paxil-related. All the facts on paxil, celexa, effexor, zoloft, concerta, cymbalta, etc., can be found at the forum below. Just come and read, and be amazed.

The only time I have a negative effect is if I don't take it for 3 or more days. If you are have negative effects, see your Dr. and tell what they are. You will be given a differant drug. One that works for you. The DRs. don't always get it right the first time.

I have…
My doctor prescribed it to me because I was still feeling a high level of anxiety when I went on Prozac. So he thought Paxil (but the off brand because it was less expensive and the same stuff) might do the job. I started on Tuesday…
I was fine for the first few days … just a little anxious and mood swings were very mild. Then on Sunday (10:00pm) I started to get really upset because things weren’t going fast enough and I was extremely frustrated with my homework… then I got hyper, and this weird feeling… sort of like something crawling under my skin… I wanted to scratch my arms sooo bad , but I held myself back. I called my mom and told he the systems she suggested to do something that usually calms me down, but I told he it wasn’t working it was only making me more stressed… I got really thirsty and I drank about a gallon of water within an hour… I called the consulting nurse and she said to go to the hospital…
I went to the ER and I started calming down (Midnight) … I then started feeling a small yet strange desire to cut myself… it got worse quickly, adding a small desire to commit suicide and so I called my mom (the doctor still hadn’t seen me yet) and asked if I should tell the medical staff I was feeling these emotions… She said yes… but then it got really bad I was having the full on anxiety, cutting, and suicidal thoughts all at once and beating down hard… I burst in to tears and kept talking to my mom, that seemed to stave off the thoughts a little, I was getting worse by the second… I actually collapsed on to my knees and was sobbing… that is not like me at all! I usually never cry… Well at that point the doctor came in and took the phone talked to my mom as I crumbled to the floor crying curled up in a ball… (1:00) (the doctor was a jerk, but that is a whole different aspect of the story) I took the medication they gave me and I started to feel better… but I felt like I had just been tranquilized… (I have had surgery before and it was about as powerful as the anesthetic then)
I calmed down and went home (2:00am) that night or morning? … My roommates told me that when we went to ER I looked like I was on speed…
I went to my doctor and he put me back on the Prozac… but with another thing to combat the major anxiety attacks. He said I had had a extreme reaction and that Paxil was definitely not for me… : ) What do you think tipped him off? …
Well I’d just have to say someone who is around you a lot needs to know (you don’t have to tell them what you are going on just that you are going on a new medication) if you are going on it for the first time so they can watch to see if you are having a bad reaction to the medication.

weight gain (approx. 30 lbs)
It didn't matter what I ate or if I exercised 2 hours a day-the weight didn't budge until I went off the med.
