Have you tried to see if it works? If it doesn't work, then you're pretty much out of luck as Apple makes no mention of any sort of backwards compatibility with earlier versions.

However, if you really need to work on this project at school and they won't let you use your laptop, you may have one option. It's not too pretty and I'm pretty sure no one has ever used it for off site video editing. But you could check into using VNC to access your comp from school. See:

Question #1. Yes! Microsoft put out a Mac version of office, it's around $100.00 Question #2. Photobooth, GarageBand, iMovie and it has the ability to purchase new software through the Mac App store. Question #3. Yes! Operating system upgrades on Macs are really cost efficient ($29.00) Question #4. This is one of my favorite parts of the Mac. No longer do you have a million folders consuming your Hard Drive. It's really simplistic and easy to use. The transition from a PC is nothing but fun Question #5. I personally have never received a single virus since I purchased my Mac. (That was 2 years ago) Hope this helps! Now, go buy a Mac so I didn't type this for no reason lol

Check the "Save As..." options.

Assuming it operates in a similar manner as most of the MS programs I'm familar with for the PC, you can save the files as an earlier version.
