I'd say sell her car and put the money in her account. This is assuming she can no longer drive. On the other hand if her car is in better shape, perhaps you can make an arrangement to swap and sell yours. Good luck to you and your mom.

Sell the car which is least practical. You may need a power of attorney if your mom is not coherent enough to sign over ownership to you. Pick which of the two cars is the most useful and in the best shape. Weigh the benefits and pitfalls of each car to help you decide, i.e. which gets better gas mileage, which is better for doing the daily things you do, which car has the least mileage, which car has a better quality record, etc. I am sorry for your misfortune, and wish you and your mother the best.

By any chance did she buy the disability insurance when she got her car loan? I'd check with the finance comp. if you are not sure. Other wise I would sell hers to help pay for her expenses

Well if she's near the end you can always sell it. If it looks like she might recover then I guess you'll have to "cook" something up you know what I mean.
