I suggest listening to Casting Crowns song: "Praise You in This Storm" in their album "LifeSong". Here's a link to it:

I don't have any specific verses that help me when I'm down, but I really do like the story of Lot and how God tortured him and even killed all of his family and his animals too. There is one other biblical story that I like reading also and that's the story of the flood, where God sent a flood to kill everyone except Noah and his family.
These two stories really cheer me up because they act as a constant reminder of why I'm not a Christian, and not being a Christian just makes me feel good all over.

Psalm 37 sometimes. But know this: Why don't you just pick up the Bible and stop telling yourself that you won't benefit by it? We are promised things that no one else will get, so what is there in the world that can contest with that?
Romans 8:33 Who shall lay any thing to the charge of God's elect? It is God that justifieth.
34 Who is he that condemneth? It is Christ that died, yea rather, that is risen again, who is even at the right hand of God, who also maketh intercession for us.
35 Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword?
36 As it is written, For thy sake we are killed all the day long; we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter.
37 Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us.
38 For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come,
39 Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Heb 4:16 Let us therefore draw near with boldness unto the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy, and may find grace to help us in time of need.
I hope this helps!!! and know all things work to the good of those who love God!!!
God bless!!!!

Read the book of Lamentations. It's in the Old Testament, and is full of - well - lamentations. It's the most beautiful, poetic, miserable literature you will ever read.
