If you want economic, go for Jim Black Label.

If you want quality, Makers or Knob!

Manhattan - bourbon with sweet vermouth over ice.

Depth Charge - Drop a whiskey shot (glass and all) into a beer in a glass (big enough for the shot to go to the bottom and with enough room for the extra volume. Drink normally - no need to mix. It will get stronger the closer you get to the bottom.

Try different brands of bourbon also, my favorite is Old Fitzgerald (bottled in bond of course - green black label). It isn't as sweet as most others, and has wonderful depth and complexity.

Kentucky Cocktail: Take a highball glass, fill it with good bourbon (Maker's Mark is a fine example). Then, drink half (gotta make room in the glass). Get 4 or 5 ice cubes and throw them away. Drink the rest of the bourbon. Repeat to taste.

Maker's Mark on the rocks, and Gentleman Jack on the rocks. Don't ruin fine whiskey or bourbon by mixing it. Sip it and enjoy the taste.

OK... 1/2 Vodka 1/2 Kahlua Poured into a glass of crushed ice. Great Black Russian. 6 parts gin 1 part dry Martini Straight up in a cocktail glass with a twist of lemon peel. Have your gin and glasses in the freezer and your Martini in the fridge and make sure the lemon peel oils hit the top of the drink. Classic Dry Martini. 1 part Whisky 3 parts Baileys Poured over ice is a good drink too. Don't try them all at the same time. lol Cheers.

Drink good, small batch bourbon on ice. Try Knob Creek, you'll never go back to Jim Beam again!

I use to be a bartender/waitress in the 70's, we sold a lot of whiskey with seven-up, club soda, water and on the rocks.
I also just found this site that you might check out~cocktails.about.com~just type in whiskey mixers. Hope you find something you like.

First of all stop buying Jim Beam. Try Makers Mark or Woodford Reserve. And drink it straight.

besieds jim and coke? have you tried a jack and coke? or just a whiskey on the rocks? whiskey isn't really a big mixer drink I would say.

If you're a girl hiding behind that avatar, try a whiskey sour. Men, if they must mix it with something, should try an ice cube, but real men drink it neat.
