For stuffed chew toys (which usually last less than 10 minutes here), I go to the salvation army or value village and buy 10 for $5. I throw them in the wash and give them to her once in awhile when she might want a new toy. You can also go to a building store such as Rona or Home Hardware and buy a large length of rope for tug of war. It is a lot cheaper than buying it at the pet store.

As for bones and the likes, you can ask at the grocery store or butchers what they do with their bones. As long as they are thick and not cooked, you can give it to your dog (once it is cooked it can splinter and the marrow dries out). Some butchers will give you free bones, other will give them out cheap (a buck for a bone or so).

Treats you can make yourself at home for a lot less than what you would buy them for at the local store. Use a cheap meat (such as dark meat turkey, ground beef, etc) and wait until it is on sale. Here is a website with some great recipies http://gourmetsleuth.com/recipe_dogbiscuit.htm and you can also find one at your local library in some dog books.

As for food you DO NOT want to skimp out on this. Buy the premium food. Not only will your dog be healtheir (save in vet bills), have a better coat (save on grooming expenses), and poop less, but it will help them live longer. The rule of thumb is that the bag costs twice as much and they eat 1/2 as much simply because it fills them up with nutriants rather than fillers.

Overall, dogs are expensive, regardless and if you can't afford to pay for the basics, maybe you should consider adopting your dog out to someone who can pay the extra money each month.

Not sure about free sites but you can go to to a dollar store and buy the toys for the dog for a buck I think anyone could afford a dollar for their pet. I had to put my dog to sleep tonight so I am going to have to buy my other dog alot of new toys and that is where I will start.

If youre really trying to save money, just go to a dollar general, dollar tree, and they have 98 cent dog toys at walmart. Or at the local butcher (if you have one) they will sometimes give out the smoked bones for dogs. Or if you have rope you can tie and play with the dog..

There isn't much out there for free toys, bones, treats or food for dog owners. Guess companies figure if you can afford a dog you can afford the basics.

Go to Craigslist.com and browse your area...there are people getting rid of anything you can think of.

I bought a 160 dollar cage from someone for 20 bucks and i got a cat bed and a dresser from someone else for 5 dollars.

Look...look in the pet section and free section...look in all the sections.

You can make toys for your dog, they don't know the difference.Tie a sock in knots and he will love it.Trust me my dogs have everything and they will play with what ever I give them as long as I play with them they don't care.Their favorite thing to do is take them for a walk and that's free.

I just recently went to Greenies.com. They are really good for your dogs breath and teeth and they give you a free sample.

Put a tennis ball in a sock and tie a knot at the top.

Tie an old bath towell or wash cloth in a tight knot, depending on dogs size.

Sometimes feed stores off samples.

Second hand stores.

Dumpster diving.

Plastic milk jug.

Did I help?
