WOW. I have been with a few partners. I have been on just about everything that there is. I did the depo shot for about 4 years and never got pregnant, the pill for 4 years, the patch for a little over a year, condoms, spermicide, and now I am on the Nuva Ring. I have gotten pregnant twice and they are both planned pregnancies. So, I believe that with proper use, there is almost 100% that you wont get pregnant. It is the other small percentage that think that they are using it right and actually arent and get pregnant. I also have never had an std and yes, with the people I was with in my teenage years, it could have been possible but condoms do protect.

When you're a young adult your choices for a birth control method might be different than that of a woman who is older or who is married. We think it’s important for you to know about birth control methods available today, even if you are not yet sexually active.
Contraception is a very important key to your sexual health and state of well being. Did you know that 25% of women who have intercourse without using a method of birth control will become pregnant within one month and 85% will become pregnant within one year.
Choosing a birth control method is a very personal decision, but one you might want to discuss with your sexual partner. To choose which birth control method to use, consider how well each one will work for you:
How effective is it? How will it fit into your lifestyle? How safe is it?
Is it affordable? Does it protect you from sexually transmitted diseases?
These are important questions that are worth taking some time to think about. Talk to your sexual partner or parent if you can. We hope that many of you can discuss these options with someone. Just a reminder or if you don't already know... you can get a prescription for birth control without parental consent. You can also see a health care provider without anyone else knowing also. It’s your body and your privacy.

Ok, here goes (lol):
guy number 1 the pill very effective
guy number 2 nothing got pregnant (duh)
guy number 3 condoms very effective
Yes I agree, it all depends on how the contraceptives are used. ie: skip a pill = get pregnant, use old condom = get pregnant, no contraceptive = get pregnant. I'm glad you see the importance in learning how to use it correctly. I got pregnant when I was 16 (now 19) and I think too many kids are getting pregnant (an 11 yr. old got pregnant at my school) and most of the time its because they didn't have the necessary information available to them. (or the parent to get the pill) Thank you again for raising this important topic!

Well, I see your point, but the bigger issue is the risk. It a baby were something like the flu that an antibiotic could get rid of, the "safe-sex" issue would not be very big. The issue is that a baby CHANGES EVERYTHING!!! And not only that, STDs CHANGE EVERYTHING!!! Especially for girls... The HPV is the #1 cause of cervical cancer among women. Right now, I have a frined dying from that, and I have a friend who's pregnant! (and I go to a Christian school) I had a teacher that had two sons while his wife was one the pill. yea, so I like your ideas, but once it happens to you, you're going to be one of those who talks about how non-effective it was so that you can prevent these things from happening to your peers...

I do agree with you. I got pregnant and I was on the birth control pill, I started taking a antibiotic and nobody told me before I started taking it that I could fall pregnant. So been on the pill is not very effectively if you are on any prescription drugs take it from me I learned the hard way.

I agree w/ you. My co-worker got pregnate w/ all three of her children using some type of birth control method. One w/ condoms, one w/ the pill, and one w/ the birth control shot; One of my other coworkers said she got pregnate w/ using birth control & condoms - i seriously don't know how that happened... the odds have gotta be extreemly slim, but it happened. I have (and have had) only one sexual partner (my current boyfriend of over 7 months) and we use condoms... But how ironic is it that i'm going to the doc tomorrow to get on birth control. Better safe than sorry. I did have one pregnancy scare though... I was 1 week late for some reason, but all is clear! good luck w/ you paper.

Well, i have only gotten pregnant when not on any sort of birth control. I have never gotten pregnant on the pill or with a condom. I was married 11 years and was on the pill.
