Even after it heals, it can close during the day and can make it very difficult to reinsert jewelry later.
You should look into getting a high quality retainer for your piercing if you really want to hide it.
Facial piercings are a serious commitment because you pretty much have to show it all the time. Changing the jewelry daily in a new piercing will cause serious issues over time. You can build up scar tissue, ruin the piercing and even get an infection if you aren't careful
It will take the piercing about 3-4 months to heal and during that time you are NOT to remove the jewelry for any reason unless you have spoke with your piercer. Once fully healed, you are free to take it out and change the jewelry as you see fit, just keep in mind that even a few hours without jewelry can effect the piercing and your ability to put jewelry back in. After a year or two, you can usually leave a piercing out with little problems for a couple days, but everyone is different.

A lip piercing is still technically an oral piercing. Sometimes, depending on the person, there will never be a time where you can keep it out for hours on end without it closing. Why not just order a quartz retainer and wear that in so it stays open, is safe for healing and isn't so noticeable.

if you wanted it hidden you should of gotten a 18 gage or higher. my friend got her lip pierced last year. and her mom found out like one month later. she took the front ring or ball off. so maybe you can do that. like the other people say don't take it out cause your lip heals itself so it will start to close immediately. in about 2-3 weeks you should get a retainer

either remove it completely and forget about it for now, or go invest in a quartz labret retainer. if you are *lucky* in about a year or more, you will be able to remove it for periods of time. for many, the holes tend to close after a few hours. for now, though, removing and trying to put it back in will just irritate the piercing, possibly cause infection, and honestly, it will probably close up within a couple hours. not worth it.

Hahaha! You didn't do any research before you did this, did you? I had my lip pierced for over a year and when I took my ring out for 2 hours and it closed up. Good luck.

It seems you should have thought getting a lip piercing more thoroughly. If you keep it out during the day, it will close.

i could advise waiting approximately 3 months. you will be able to desire to enable the preliminary piercing heal or you will improve scar tissue. an intensive pal took hers out for a role interview and positioned it back in day after right this moment and he or she have been given contaminated and has an eternal bump of scar tissue.

only after it heals....like over a year heals.
If you take it out for more than a few minutes, because its around the mouth, it will start to heal and close up. so don't take it out.
gauge doesn't really matter, if u end up putting a smaller gauge in cause it starts to close up it will lead to a quicker rejection/migration

at least several weeks, talk to your piercer and they might be able to hook you up with a clear retainer until the piercing has healed completely, granted you wont be able to use the retainer for a couple weeks

i highly discourage taking it out and putting it back in all the time after you just got it, it need to heal first...you MUST keep it in for the first month before you can change it, which means..you MUST keep it in for a month before you can take it out...i agree that you should have thought this through more
