My wife wants to know what she can use to decorate her cast. Are acrylic paint pens safe? What isn't safe? What is recommended? What isn't? I think she wants to get pretty serious about making it fancy, but doesn't want to harm the material in the process.

I'm pretty certain her cast is fiberglass. It has the little woven fiber looking thingies, as opposed to the plaster of paris look. Does she need to go about it differently if it is fiberglass?

Hey there, I know exactly what to use. I had my leg in a full leg cast once. We used all kinds of different colored SHARPIES and they worked out great. My cast ended up looking awesome. Paint pens you might not want to use incase you get too much paint on there at once seeing as how wet the paint comes out.

I can't believe I came across your question. I broke my foot and had surgery on Monday and was wondering the same thing:) I don't know if her cast is plaster or fiberglass (mine will be fiberglass after the stitches are removed). I think that a primer would have to be used before an acrylic paint can be applied, otherwise a paint used for boats would be another option, although I doubt we can get our hands on a small amount of boat paint! If it's plaster, acrylic would work. I'm anxious to see what others advise. Hope she's getting along with her broken foot/leg. This cast thing is real attractive, right? Good luck.

Yes, paint pens are fine. For something durable I'd reccomend Testers enamel paint pens. They come in many colors. I've used those in everything from art to painting small parts in car restorations.

Yes, acrylic paint pens are fine. So are Sharpies and any other kind of marker or paint.

The cast is plaster, same stuff as plaster of Paris (your wife knows what that is). you can use anything you would use on the walls in your house.

Try a local tattoo shop, they will hook u up for a small fee. My ex GF had a broken leg and they did the whole leg in a Tiger print. It looked so cool. They only charged her $5 bucks. Hope this helps.

Try puffy fabric paints. They come in lots of colors and they stick up when dried. Have fun and get well soon.
