atheists and I neglect to indicate that I am (for lack of a better term) a Weak Theist. Intellectually I think I identify more with atheists than anyone else and sometimes I jump in and answer a question directed at atheists.Sometimes it will be hours later that I realize that I didn't put a disclaimer in there to point out that I'm not technically atheist.

Also, I should point out that I probably do this most when a christian is asking a question to atheists but the question really applies to people of non-Abrahamic faiths.

OOPS should read "when I answer"

When I say Weak Theist I mean that I am of the opinion that there is a god of some sort that is responsible for the existence of the universe. However, it is not a belief and I would love to be proven wrong some day by science (if that's even possible)

I'm not trying to cover any bases because in my view, if there is a god, it probably doesn't even know that we exist.

Well I do the same thing, I wouldn't worry about it too much. :-)

I'm in the same boat. Technically a theist, but the kind of theist most orthodox Christians would burn at the stake. I just answer all questions indiscriminately.

i'm an atheist. i'm not sure what you mean when you say that you are "not technically atheist." is a weak theist someone that hasn't made up his mind? or someone that wants to cover all the bases........just in case??

Your conduct is fine. I love your questions and answers. But yes, you do seem to identify more with atheists that with theists. But hey...whatever floats your boat. :)

You will be marched out of the Church of atheism and stripped of your sceptical credentials and forced to perform penance every Sunday for a year.

Or maybe not.

Answer anything you like, Mullah. I'm not at all offended.

But I'm also neither atheist nor christian.

it doesn't bother me, this place is to say what you want. Atheists might be adamant creatures (maybe because we're armed with actual evidence...) but we're not a cult you know...we're not gunna come and find you and eat you cause you're not "one of us" haha :)

I think on serious questions, it's better to word your question ambiguously -- such that we don't know your true beliefs.

(I'm actually not an R&S Newbie. I have other secret identities! :O )
