I have gas from it, and diarrhea and I love cheese as well.
Cheese is not a culprit of IBS, but the gas can be aggrevated by it, if the person has a milk allergy.
I'm sorry you have it, and I know it sucks, but that's our life...just how it goes. :)
1.) Make the best of it...do what I did. Get a couple large dogs and blame it on them whenever you get the chance.
2.) Learn not to release "test farts". They always fail...and are always way louder than you thought they'd be.
3.) Don't eat cheese before weddings or close gatherings...lol.

You may have problems with dairy, but still could be ok with cheese. Lay off all milk products for a week and see how you are. If you are better, then try cheese and see how if effects you. Good luck! I can't have milk but cheese doesn't seem to hurt me - so I hope the same is for you. :)

Some people say cheese binds you up. Are you lactose intolerant. I'd say don't eat a lot of processed bread products, but rather have a bowl of raisin bran or some other bran cereal for breakfast every morning. Drink a lot of water. If you feel like you have to have a BM, don't put it off, regardless of having to use a public restroom.

No, you don't have to stop eating cheese. I had the same problem, always had hot flashes and sometimes could not hold it. I got tired of having IBS and went to my Doctor, it is embarrassing to tell them your story, but he gave me a prescription for LIBRAX. Let me tell you, it works. I have not had IBS problems since being on this prescription. Get with your doctor and get this med. It works.

You may want to stop eating and drinking milk and gluten (breads, pasta, etc). If you have an irritable bowel, these 2 types of foods will make it worse (especially the milk). Try eating/drinking lactose free milk products or even try soy or rice as an alternative. I hope you get better. Take care.

I have trouble with milk products and IBS. Ask your doctor about Zelnorm, it worked for me stopped the cramping and gas - although not with the milk products.

Ask your doctor about the medication called "PAMINE" It's formulated for women with this condition and it will help. You should stay away from rich fatty foods and anything greasy for a little while. Your tummy will thank you.
Good luck
