the new company says that it is not responsible for the previous w-2's but come to find out the people who previously bought the buisness are still the same people with one new person added as a co owner so why shouldnt they be responsible for both w-2's is there someone we can report them to

You'll get your W2s. You might get one from each employer or one just from the new owners; it really won't matter as it will reflect your total earnings.

I don't know what a w-2 is, but when this happened to us, our wages and annual leave and pensions were all messed up for a few months. Hopeless. So, you might want to check on that

it will be a wait and see situation because you will never know if this company will add or layoff imployees just keep your fingers cross and hope for the best favorable outcome for you
