I have this sentence on the bottom of a political cartoon by Daumier, "Nous avons donc vole le balloon de Mr. Green?" -- What is it's translation? I've tried the translators online and the translations come up, "We thus have steals the balloon of" -- That makes no sense. Anyone have an understanding of this?

I am french and know english pretty well.
It means, and you almost had it right.
"We thus have stolen Mr.Green's balloon?"
VOLE should be spelled VOLÉ... the accent on top of the "e" means it's in the past tense and in french it is extremely important. It's probably why the translator you have used returned "steals" rather than "stolen".
It is obviously the verb VOLER, to steal. There is also the verb VOLER, to fly, but in your phrase it could not have been the case because of the phrase structure, it wouldn't make sense. It would have been something like "Nous avons donc VOLÉ à bord du ballon de Mr.Green?"
Also, possession is expressed differently in french.
"Le ballon de Mr.Green"="Mr.Green's balloon"

I dont know what "donc" means but the rest means we go *donc* fly the ballon of Mr. Green. I tried the translation site and it translated donc as "therefore" sooo I don't know but I got most of it yay!

We have now flown Mr. Green's balloon or We have now stolen Mr, Green's balloon. Depends on the content of the cartoon, whichever makes sense.

Voler = "to steal" or "to fly" but here it's obvious that it's not "to fly"
Donc = "thus", but I prefered to use "that's why"
But it's not easy to translate, if I don't have the sentences that come before this one.
