Is it true you cant join the army if your gay and if you do get in and get caught being gay what can they do??

you can join but you can not be openly gay. If you don't tell anyone then you will be fine. They won't ask you but if for some reason they find out, you will be discharged. I'm looking at the statement that I had to sign when I joined (USMC....Oorah!) and it says that you CANNOT engage in any homosexual acts, make homosexual statements (that includes bisexual statements),or marry or attempt to marry someone of the same sex, even if it is or was legal in your state. Article 137 UCMJ.

if you get caught they chapter you out of the army i forget the exact chapter # but its what they do

Right now it is true, but they do have a "don't ask, don't tell" policy.
