I usually use mousse and gel and just scrunch it with my hands. Is there a better way to do this?

Your technique works - if you want a little more definition to the waves you create from scrunching, spritz hair to dampen, THEN add mousse and then gently push strands of damp, scrunched hair upwards using a diffuser attachment on a hair dryer. Don't worry about drying your hair fully - the little bit of heat and the diffuser will enforce your scrunched - wavy haired look. Work the diffuser around your head - stop only a few seconds on sections, and then let the rest air dry.

The best way to scrunch your hair is to wash it then after you wash it put a lot of moose in it and scrunch it in your hair then use hair spray that always works for my freinds and me.

You could try braiding your hair when its wet, then slowly taking out the braids in the morning. But when i scrunch my hair i find curl defining moose and a diffuser works best for getting perfect scrunched hair.

But try experimenting with different stuff, and find what best works with your hair :)

Apply a no frizz/ curling product to hair. Bend over and mist hair with water. Gently scrunch with ionic towel.(you can get them at Sally's Beauty Supply)

Try a product named mudd. Apply it to wet/damp hair. Bend head over & scrunch with fingers giving hair fullness.dont use a pick, use fingers to work your hair to reach the style you desire.
