Presently there is no draft in the US Armed Forces. All of the military people serving anywhere volunteered to be in the military.
In the past there were drafts in US history ... The Civil War, WWI, WWII, and the period following until after The Vietnam War. Various formulae were used to decide who was draftable and who was not. There were exemptions for people who were not mentally or physically fit, age, in or out of school, the number of dependents that relied upon their support, how many brothers they had presently in the military, etc. Being simply married was never a consideration for exemption from the draft.
If a future draft were ever implemented, a whole new set of criteria would need to be established for exemption to account for the modern world. For example, perhaps young women would be drafted as well as young men..

Here is a list of classifications from the Selective Service website. This has some of the deferrments and exclusions to the draft:
1-A - available immediately for military service.
1-O Conscientious Objector- conscientiously opposed to both types (combatant and non-combatant) of military training and service - fulfills his service obligation as a civilian alternative service worker.
1-A-O Conscientious Objector - conscientiously opposed to training and military service requiring the use of arms - fulfills his service obligation in a noncombatant position within the military.
2-D Ministerial Students - deferred from military service.
3-A Hardship Deferment - deferred from military service because service would cause hardship upon his family.
4-C Alien or Dual National - sometimes exempt from military service.
4-D Ministers of Religion - exempted from military service.
Student Postponements - a college student may have his induction postponed until he finishes the current semester or, if a senior, the end of the academic year. A high school student may have his induction postponed until he graduates or until he reaches age 20. Appealing a Classification - A man may appeal his classification to a Selective Service Appeal Board.

It will tell you what happens in draft.
I doubt you will have anything to worry about. The draft will be political suicide for any federal representative that votes for it. The draft (in theory) doesn't discriminate. Poor kids and rich kids will be required to serve. Parents don't want their children to go fight and die. I think if a draft is enacted, you will see a major house cleaning amongst the federal representatives.

It would not exclude you but may help. Here is why the Military would prefer a Man or Women that is single and not in School. God willing I hope we never see a draft again!!! If there is one suck it up and defend your country. Think of all the Good Men and Women that fought for this country in the past!!! They gave us the freedom we have now!

Sounds like your girlfriend has more guts than you do to put up with dating a coward. Honestly dude, nobody likes a draft dodger, even a potential one. Grow up and be a man. Maybe bootcamp would be just the ticket for you after all.

Here is a sure fire way to avoid the draft.....you and your g/f both go to the recruiter of your choice and sign up! After you've signed with a branch of the military, you can't be drafted.
In the mean time, grow a spine!

About the only thing that would get you out of the draft, would be if you're an only son.
