There's a spot about 3 inches above my hip and about 4 inches to the left of my belly button that started hurting a few hours ago. The pain comes and goes and doesn't usually get too bad, but what's up with this?

I'm not on my period, so we can rule that out.

I would venture to guess it is an irritation in the Transverse Colon. Usually diet such as greasy fried foods, and too many sweets along with starches can cause bubbles of gas to form in a tense area of the colon. Try Alkaseltzer, and if this problem continues I would suggest seeing a Doctor, and do a little research on your diet to control it. IBS Irritable Bowel Syndrome is common with many people, and can be controlled through diet. However, many medications are on the market. I believe in natural remedies however. Try Acidophilus in Yogurt to restore the natural lining in the intestines and Colon. The appendix are on the other side. Also, it could be you are sensitive to some foods, and have a fixed allergy. Try a rotation diet. None of the same foods for more than three days. Worry also adds to the tension in your gut.....

The same thing happens, it's really nothing though. It has to do with your period and your overies. I usually get these pains like 2 or 3 weeks before my next period.... they are pretty random though and are nothing to worry about.

Sometimes women get a pain in that area when they ovulate/are ready to ovulate. A heating pad and Advil should help if that is the case.
