Because some idiots can't understand that there's a difference between the scientific meaning of the word "theory" and the lay persons meaning of the word theory.
The difference is that the atomic theory and theory of gravity are harder to attack.

Because charlatans like Behe and Hovind can sell more videos and coffee table books if they have pretty pictures of fossils and the Grand Canyon in them. Evolution covers a wide range of topics most people thing they have some knowledge about, such as geology and biology. Everybody has seen a rock and a bunny rabbit. If they attacked atomic theory and gravity, it would be unprofitable to try to hold the attention of cretins while you told them about dynamics of 3rd body gravitation or multiple proportions.
That's what you have to do, look at where the profit is being made, and you'll find the motivation for their twisting of science as well as their own myths. The ones that really believe Creationism are just the idiots that have been duped by the ones making the money.

You can replicate the theory of atomic energy in the lab or on a bomb test site.
You can replicate the theory of gravity with a rope, a bowling ball, and a stack of bricks.
You can't do that in the lab. Sure, you can breed sugar flies to see if you get an albino, but not to get if you get a horse fly.
Despite our advances, radiography testing still only works on this already thought to be millions of years old. Anything newer and it says they are also millions of years old.

We know there is gravity, but a theory of gravity not too long ago was that we were held to earth by atmospheric pressure, later we discover we are held on by centripital force... could be in a few years we find out we're held on by suction? Humming Birds and Bumble Bees are said to "defy gravity" yet, they don't. we just dont fully understand gravity yet. Still... we do know that things fall to earth. THAT part is fact, all the other stuff is theory
In the same way, Evolution is fact, in that yes, things change over time. No doubt about it. But its only theory that lizards evolved into birds and apes into man.

it is interesting for awhile. Then, once you've examine each and each of the arguments (only a idea, so is gravity; something popping out of no longer something, what clone of God popping out of no longer something; if Australians advanced from Englishmen, why are there nonetheless Englishmen; it is like reducing corners off a poster, once you hit upon the transitional style between A and B and communicate to it C, they want the transitional varieties between A and C and C and B), it receives somewhat boring. Then, once you imagine for only a second that folk would actual actual have self belief that the Earth and all existence varieties on it were zapped into being through an invisible sky fairy who, through his personal admission in his personal holy texts, is a adverse psychotic, it is going to change into kinda scary.

A theory is a proven truth. It starts as a hypothesis, but when proven true it becomes a theory. Gravity and atoms are theories; they have been proven true. Why attack them? Evolution is just a hypothesis, with plenty of holes that actually contradict the hypothesis.

STEPHEN are you really that ignorant? The reason its called a law is that in the19th Century they thought they were right, they were not, their law was incorrect. Nothing is called a law now. Einsteins THEORY of Relativity has superceded Newtons LAW of gravity, the Theory is correct (or more correct), the Law incorrect (plain wrong).

They just like attacking this one logical theory with overwhelming observable evidence with their story books. Atomic theory and the theory of gravity are just harder to attack.

Because the other two you mentioned don't conflict with their beliefs.
Remeber christians for the most part are pick-and-choose. The pick whatever biblical and scientific information best suites their desired understanding of reality.
Stephen M:
General Theory of Relativity, Quantum-Loop Gravity, M-Theory, all theories of gravity, moron.
